The Common Room / Re: Marriage Certificate Entries
« on: Sunday 27 March 22 17:40 BST (UK)  »

Thank you all so much for your advice and assistance, it is very much appreciated.

Carol - Yes, I did know the cost of PDF – Its just when your have a few on the go, plus subscriptions, it can become a costly affair.  I’ve been lucky so far though.

Marmalady - Wonder what the story is behind the score line for Father – I can understand why you would presume he had died.

Thank you Comberton – that’s Henry, Whipmaker.  I can now safely order a certificate.  I’ll still keep trying to find where he is buried – from my experience, they are recorded even if they end up in paupers grave.  I suspect he is in a grave belonging to family/friends.

Thanks for the advice Andrew and the ‘lucky’ story – I bet that was one of those ‘ah, look at that’ moments.  I've had a few of those.

Thanks for the replies.  The marriage took place in 1864. The 1861 census says mother was a widow.  The only death showing on GRO for Henry Crawford, Salford is 1856; but can’t find burial record to confirm.  Will have to order certificate, and hope it’s the correct one.

Many thank everyone

Am I right in thinking that a deceased Father wasn’t always marked a so - thus leading one to think they are still alive.
Thanks

Ah, I hadn't thought of a twin, hence the time Manukarik.  So do you think Thomson Street could have been a hospital of some kind.  Mind you, the birth was registered some 6 weeks later, March 19 I think, so maybe they moved in that time.

Thanks for the theory

Could anyone please have a look at the two following images.
This first one is of a birth certificate for Sarah Crawford.  In column 2 it is showing the birth date as Feb 6 (1838), with Thomson Street as address.  However, above these details it is showing what appears to be 10 Night, or possibly W Night. Also, in the Informant Column it’s showing mark of Ann Crawford, with possibly another address or maybe a signature.

The second image is the signature of my 4x G. Grandfather.  Following his signature there seems to be some form of character, it looks familiar (from way back), but I can’t recall what its meaning is.  Or, of course, I may have dreamt this it up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you BumbleB

Yes, that is the record I was looking at.  I didn't see the others on the previous page, all recorded as 'outside the County'.  Must have been the Salford Tea Party.  ;)

Thanks Bumble
