Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: new beta on ancestry dna results
« on: Monday 18 March 19 16:20 GMT (UK)  »
Can I as a question about Ancestrys DNA results, its a bit of a strange one.
My cousin has taken a DNA test, now for a little bit of history. My Dad was adopted soon after birth by his aunt, so she became my grandmother. My cousin is her biological grand daughter. Her results has shown one of my nieces to be her 3rd cousin. Can this be right? The only biological genes that are shared is between my dads adopted mother and his biological father.

Hi Redroger, I wasnt aware of that at all. I thought that women could vote from 18 years of age, I shall certainly be brushing up on that sort of thing now. Many Thanks

Hi Pauline and thank you, I wasnt sure what the age for voting was. Its a mystery as to why she went to Scotland and when, as she didnt seem to have any links there. I am wondering if she travelled as a companion for her future mother in law.
But many thanks again.

I am just wondering if anyone is going anywhere to look at any electoral registers in York.
I live in the south and cant get to York or I would be there like a shot.
I was wondering if anyone could look up my grandmother for me, as it would certainly answer a few questions.
In 1911 I have her on the census at home with her father living at Queens Staith, Skeldergate. Her name is Sarah Todd. What i was hoping some kind person would do is to look at the years to 1917 to see when she went to Scotland. As she marries there in 1917. All of her family stayed in York.
Mystery no 2. In 1922 Sarah comes back from Scotland to York, where she has 4 children, again I know she was still in York in 1930 as her youngest son dies there, and would love to know when she went back to Scotland. She was at that time living at 3 Beedhams Court, Skeldergate. The next time we pick her up is back in Scotland in the early 1940's. I would be very appreciative of any help.
Thank in advance.

Ireland / Culligan

I am wondering if anyone can help me, or point me in the right direction.
I am trying to find the birth of John Richard Culligan born 26th August 1919. I cant find one in England but I do know there is an Irish link.
I have the Baptism for him in Hereford in 1919 on 28th September. Mothers name Margarita Culligan and no fathers info.
I know that at some point John was taken to Ireland and was attending the Artane School which he said he ran away from.
John is no longer alive, but had a very soft Irish accent and said his mother was an Irish barmaid, which is why I think he may also have been born somewhere there.
Any help in tracing his birth would be greatfully recieved.

Regards
Anner.
