With luck a third post! I'll see what happens after that.  I see that the OPR records pre 1855 do not give much (or any) information of the parentage of the bride and groom.  Must make tracing families a lot more complex.  George Waddell (b. 1806) married Grace Douglas Meuros (or Morris) in 1825.  What interests me is in what you said is that I believe her father, Edward Morris, seems to have married Janet Bryce.  I am interested in the Bryce name as a couple of generations later, Mary Cowan (Waddell) Wotherspoon has a child by a James Bryce, once William Wotherspoon had vanished off the scene.  He becomes known as James Braes Wotherspoon.  You had a Christian Bryce as the mother of John Waddell, so I wonder if it is the same Bryce family members?  I think these are all close knit, related communities in Shotts, Coatbridge, Aidrie and then drifting west into Glasgow city.

I know nothing of the PM system, you may have to help me there.

Thanks, Lodger, perhaps this will be my second message?  Not sure of the rules and just dived in impetuously.  I'm now living up in Scotland so research my Dad's side of the family.  I assume as you replied that my message went to all three of you in the loop?  I agree with your assessment from Oct 2014 based on the 1861 & 1891 Censuses.  Thanks again for your research.

I was intrigued by your post in October 2014 which popped up in a search I did.  I know the story well having been researching similar stuff for about the last couple of years, using library access and Findmypast for twelve months.

I'm pretty sure that James Bryce became James Wotherspoon, with half siblings Gavin & Grace.  He became known as James Braes Wotherspoon and married Christina Wood in Glasgow on 11/3/1892.  He was lost at sea on 13 Nov 1923.  I wondered what your interest in these people was?  Have you a family link, as perhaps do Lodger and GR2?  Is there a safe and secure way of contacting people in RootsChat, I have only just joined this Forum.
