Berkshire / Huntley & Palmers during WW2 and up to 1950

Hi everyone,
I'm an author writing wartime fiction and although I live in Reading I'm not from the area. I'm trying to do some research for my next book and looking at the history of Huntley & Palmers. I'm hoping to find people who worked there during the war who would be able to tell me what life was like, challenges, highlights etc they faced. I would also like to hear about the Queen's wedding cake and if anyone knows anything about those that worked on it.

If it's possible to point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. I've done the usual things such as going to the town and uni museums but what I'm in need of now is a sense of what it was like for the people there. Again, apologies if this is a bit vague but at the moment that's just how I'm feeling about it all!

Many thanks for reading,

Fiona
