William was shown on the Memorial inscription along with his parents but not with his middle name so I am certain he is correct.
I take your point about her siblings so I am still a little unsure.
I have taken a DNA test so I will try the different parent options & see what transpires.
Thanks.

It was her son who registered her death but as I said, if she had been adopted at age 2 1/2 then she may have only known Ph & Id as her parents & told that to her children.
Another clue could be that her first child with George Nicol was called Robert Duff Nicol. The last child of JH & EB was William Duff Horn. According to other trees but I cannot find a baptism for him which is possibly because his father died just before he was born. I have tried to contact the other tree owners to find out where the name came from but no luck so far.

Aberdeenshire / helen Horn 1802

I wonder if anyone can give me some information about Helen Horn who was born in Drumblade in 1802 to James Horn (1748 - 1805) & Elizabeth Barron (1760 - 1814). Helen was my 3 x Great Grandmother.
There is a bit of confusion regarding her birth & parents.
I have information about her from 1827 - 1892 when she died in the form of Census records, Marriage record & Death certificate.
She had an illegitimate son Alexander (2 x Great Grandfather)(1827 - 1898) by James Gray (1798 - 1874) in Forgue.
She married George Nicol in Forgue in 1833 & appears in an 1836 Church Census with George & Alexander in Forgue.
All other records show her as having been born in Forgue in 1805 & her death certificate shows her parents as Peter Horn & Isobel Duncan.

My query is that there was no baptism record for Helen in 1805 to Peter & Isobel but there were 3  children baptised in Forgue. John 1802, Christian 1806 & Alexander 1809.
There was however a Helen born in 1802 in Drumblade to James Horn & Elizabeth Barron who also had 4 other children James 1796, Alexander 1798, Jean 1800 & William 1805.
James (snr) died Jan 1805 & Elizabeth died March 1814.
Could it be that when James died Elizabeth would have been left on her own to bring up 5 children & so Helen & possibly the others were adopted by other families.
If so then Helen would have been about 2 1/2 years old & may have been ignorant of who her real parents were & always thought of Peter & Isobel as her parents & the date of adoption (1805) as her birth year.
In other words is Helen 1802 & Helen 1805 the same person If I can find any information about Helen 1802 then that will reject my theory.

I am not sure about the Scottish version because I have not used it but I should imagine there will be certain redactions.

The Scotland version is basically a waste of time. You have to tell them the information & all you will get is the information for that one person, unlike the England version which gives you the whole page. I am not aware of another method of searching but you could try Scottish indexes on face book & they may help you.

William & Ann were my wife's 3 x Great Grandparents & she is also descended from John Cramp Jury.
Our tree differs from you in the fact that we have William dying in 1830 aged 40 & Ann dying in 1841 age 53 & she did not remarry (as far as I can see)

Yes I will tackle that subject.

Thanks for this latest information, I have had a quick look at the link to TNA search & it is quite helpful in respect of his will, where it helped with some wording I was not sure about.
Now that I/we have established that John Cramp is not my wife's 4 x great grandfather I will park his research to one side temporarily & come back to it at a later date.
What I now think has happened is that John (possibly) married Elizabeth Badham in 1783. She (possibly) died in 1785.
He then (possibly) married Elizabeth Hyde in 1787. It was this Elizabeth who was the mother of the 4 children Ann (1788 - 1788), John (1790), Elizabeth (1792) & Mary (1797). She then died in 1798 while having another unnamed child.
John then married Elizabeth Cramp in 1800 who already had a child called Ann.
It was this Ann who was mentioned in John's will of 1809 as "Daughter in Law" & went on to marry William Edward Jury in 1812 & Elizabeth 1792 was a witness at her marriage.
Ann's death in 1841 is taken from the burial record so I will obtain her death certificate to confirm who registered it & also check her age as that could alter her birth year.

So if I accept that the Ann who died aged 2 months in High Street Whitechapel was the Ann baptised 7th March 1788 is correct (& it does seem pretty convincing), then I need to find another Ann Cramp who was married to William Edward Jury.
She died in 1841 aged 53 according to the burial record which again takes me back to 1788.
She possibly was the daughter of Elizabeth who  had a child from a previous marriage to another Cramp.
The 2 marriages which I have for John in 1783 & 1787 are still doubtful but possible & then he married another Elizabeth in 1800.
The Elizabeth who died in 1798 could have been the 1787 marriage & the Elizabeth who married in 1800 was the one mentioned in the will.
I wonder how many Cramp's there were living in Whitechapel at the time & more interestingly in High Street.
I suppose I will now have to change my tree to reflect the death of Ann in 1788.
