Thank you Calleva and Zacktyr, that's really helpful. Dear me, it sounds a horrible way to go, and she was only 30 at the time!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Hard-to-read death certificate
« on: Tuesday 16 April 24 22:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello all, can anyone help me decipher the cause of death in my 2x great-grandmother's death certificate? I think I've got most of it, but I'm struggling with the very first word.

I have: ??? 1 month, Pelvic Cellulitis 14 days, Phlegmasia Dolens 3 days

She had given birth to her final daughter one month previous, so I'm guessing this is all birth-related.

Brilliant, thank you Gadget! Winwick and Hamerton are both villages close to Old Weston, so it's all making sense  :D

Thank you, Carole, that's amazing! I shall definitely use the GRO search option in future  :D

It probably is that family, Gadget; they were based in Old Weston for quite some time. What does the HO107/1745/446 reference mean though?

Yes, the child was Elijah Turner. I just wasn't sure about mother's maiden name; Halford, I think?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me decipher a relative's maiden surname, please? I'm fairly confident it says 'Amy Turner formerly Halford', but just wanted to double-check what other people thought; I'm not sure about the letter at the end. Thanks!  :)
