Just a quick thank you to you all above for the help once again!
I successfully managed to trace the line of Breavingtons back and also her husband Bevins which was also causin some consternation.

Now to find all the children and correlate all the information!!   ::)

Thanks all!

Hi Kate *waves hello*

Its only a film reference i know, but i saw the holocaust survivors do this in the movie Schindlers List. At the end of the film, all the people Oscar Schindler saved that were still alive, filed past his grave and laid a stone on the grave to remember him by. I am pretty sure that this is a jewish tradition.

I agree that this was the best episode of the (short) series so far. Having said that i cant wait to see what the unearth for Kwvin Whately next week in the final episode.

it's just such a shame that this series is getting shorter and shorter - its one of the highlights of my week!

Thats definitley the right one! My uncle confirmed it tonight for me.

With regards to living relatives and naming them on here. I would not dream of it! My aunt and all those i mentioned are sadly no longer with us. The relative in question that i have not named is still alive and has a financial interest in my aunt.

My aunt died without having married my uncle, (she was beaten in her first marriage and left him and later lived with my uncle instead). She was agoraphobic and never left the house when she lived with my uncle so this explains why they never married.

End result = when my aunt died, an ambulance chaser went looking for relatives to give her estate to. My uncle who had cared for her all his life, ultimately had his life's savings taken off of him (he put them in my aunts name as he did a dangerous job and wanted to care for her if anything happened to him). He was left almost penniless and my aunts brother (knowing that she had lived with my uncle) took the inheritance as his own.

Its was a very sad and tragic ending to a sad life. All I am trying to do is build a better picture of her ancestors as part of my history and also for my uncle who would like his own part of the family tree.

I hope i that clears it up - sorry if i did anything wrong

Sorry to the other users for hijacking the thread temporarily!

I have to say I have the same problem. Nothing on the site makes sense to me and while i know that there is information on there somewhere that can help me (military attestations for a start) i would not know how in the heck to find it.

Surname searches bring up zuillion results none of which give any clue as to whether my ancestor is lurking there or not! Highly frustrating when you know you could get infromation that would help your searching....

Hi Manus

If she converted to Catholicism, she would have had to have been part of a service which may have taken place in the church you mentioned? It's like a confirmation service and would have been listed in the church's records if that helps?

Good thought Carol!
I have ordered my Aunt Marina's birth certificate and it should be here within the next ten days or so. I guess i am impatient though there is nothing quite like opening the certificate envelope knowing that there are answers inside!

my Aunt is going to give me problems with her own marriage! Marina Bevins married a ? Brogan and i cant fid that either at the moment! Its the trickiest part of my tree apart from my Irish roots!!

Still, its the challenge that keeps us doing it isnt it.!
