Hi Rambler, many thanks for your reply. The person who's cert I want may well still be alive. I did a search on Family Search and the name Landtwing only comes up in a place called Zug, Switzerland. So knowing the place they came from what do I do now?

Hi,  Could someone tell me how to go about obtaining a Swiss birth certificate?
I have the name of the person and their date of birth, but no place other than Switzerland.
Many thanks in advance.  Pam

Hi can anyone tell me if a Swiss girl coming to work in London shortly after WW2 would have to register anywhere as an alien?
I know she only stayed a couple of years, but would there be any "paper trail" to show where she came from etc?
Thanks in advance Pam

Hi Romilly
Do you have a first name for him? I was going to look on his medal card for more info. I have come across a couple of men in the Northumberland Fusiliers who were under age and they were returned to base until they were old enough to serve abroad. Your gt uncle would have been sent home I should think being 3 years under.
But there is a chance that his previous regiment would be on his medal card.
