Denbighshire / Re: Information Plas Coch Rest Home St Asaph

Hi
I live not far from there.
What I can tell you is if you search Google for "plas coch nursing home st asaph" you will find details of it's most recent sale particulars, the Inspection Report and that now it is a holiday let.

Hope this helps.

Kinmel Camp is an interesting topic in itself.
Some would say there was something of a cover up. There was even a TV docu drama based on the events there some years ago now.

It was a transit camp for Canadian troops.

If you haven't already found it on Wikipedia try below.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinmel_Camp

Then look at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinmel_Park_mutiny

BBC
https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/wales/entries/cfb526c8-186d-3afe-b3e0-095c8898f868

The riot was a matter of fact and took place in 1919. The camp is just 10 minutes from my house so will be fascinated to see if you can identify them.
Regards
Ian

This is a question I've wondered about!

My Close matches 4th cousins or closer = 246
Distant matches = 51552, amazing!

I seem to have quite a number of families with 8 to 10 children.

I do have many links to a family (Clarke) I know nothing about other than linked by DNA.
Can I sneak a request for Barkers from Cheshire, Wirral, N Wales to be tested, very few from there..

I have seen the advertising for this event today.

Will any one here be going?

Is it, or similar events worth going to?

I would say I'm just past the novice stage in experience so there must be lots of people with much greater knowledge than me so what could I expect to learn?

Cheers
Ian

The Common Room / Alias meaning
« on: Wednesday 06 March 19 21:34 GMT (UK)  »
I have found the baptism of my GG Grandfather, Henry Marshall, hand written in the Parish Register of Acton Trussell 16th June 1805. It's on FindMyPast. There are so many Marshalls in there it must be a large family if I can get it in order.

While looking at the Parish Register microfilm I notice lots of entries, baptisms, burials for people named as Marshall alias Tubber.
Can any one tell me what the alias signifies? Or how I should interpret it?

Then I wonder are the Marshall alias Tubbers related to the Marshall family from which I believe I am descended?

I'm going to swim against the tide here and say I'm finding these "New Products" quite useful.
I actually watched the Crista Cowan (Barefoot Genealogist) video presentation, all 56 minutes.
I thought that was very informative..

So I'm going to grab my tin hat and go and watch the football!

My reaction to Thrulines is very positive. I have found a good link to a cousin with only 10cM and another with only 17cM. I think they would have been difficult to connect having female lines.
The ones I know about and would expect to see are there. This gives confidence that some of early guesswork  was actually correct. I like it.
I also like the Common Ancestor feature. I think these two features will build up real links over time.

However I can see many people just copying the ones from further back form other trees with out research. They should of course be worked through properly.
