Sussex Lookup Requests / Luxford and Marchant
« on: Sunday 17 May 20 15:56 BST (UK)  »
Good morning! I realize as you go further back sometimes family lines get confused and a bit tangled. Just wondering if someone can help to figure out any information on Ann Luxford (1563-1604) of Hurstpierpoint who married Myles Marchant.

I see some instances where it is stated that she is the daughter of Thomas Luxford and Joan Michelborne, but others say she is a daughter of Thomas Luxford and Alice Savage. Just wondering which is most likely the most accurate.

Thank you so much!

Yes, nice to "meet" you. You and Karl are 3rd cousins then! He is first born here in the United States. We visited his sister who lives in England and other relatives a few years ago. We have to fly back soon.

I am so intrigued by your Ann White Dale! I can't seem to find where the name White fits in the family. Karl's grandfather, Thomas DALE Maynard was obviously named after his mother Sarah Tubbs Dale.

I was about to post a question regarding Robert Tubbs and Mary Chase and I found this wonderful information! My husband, Karl, is a Great Great Grandson of Sarah Tubbs Dale Maynard. Daughter of Mary Ann Tubbs and John David Dale. JanFurness just wondering if you descend from Sarah Tubbs Dale as well?

Take care,

Hope

I want to thank you all about the wealth of information on John Thomas! Thank you to CaroleW, Chempat, garstonite, hanes teulu, and ShaunJ. I can't wait to share with Karl! He is dual citizen of UK and US.

Father's side have been in Sussex and Hampshire forever. Mother's side is from Lancashire and Cheshire and then went down to Sussex in the 1930s.

Again, thank you very much!

My husband's ancestor, John Thomas was born in Bangor ca. 1800 and married Ann Carter of Garston in 1831. He is listed in many records as a Pilot/River Pilot in Liverpool. Is there any way for us to research more about John Thomas? Thank you!

Their marriage is recorded at St Peter the Great in Chichester is Anglican so our thought was that she was not Catholic. Would love some direction.

Well, I guess the question is how could Thomas Ryan (if he were Catholic) marry a Protestant Englishwoman in July, 1814?

Good Morning,

Hoping someone may know where Thomas Henry Ryan may have been born in Ireland? We would love to know where in Ireland the Protestant Ryan's are from and why they settled in Chichester. Thank you!

Here is what we have:

Thomas Henry Ryan in 1795 in Ireland,
He married Elizabeth Mitchell (widow)
on July 19, 1814, in Chichester, Sussex - St. Peter The Great Church
In 1818 he is listed as a soldier, 29th Regiment Summerstown
About 1836 Thomas died

Thank you for your help everyone. I have another question, Elizabeth Langridge who married Henry Tomset in Chailey 14th April 1757. Does anyone know who her parents/siblings are? I have William Langridge and Mary Sterns as her parents but I am not sure if I am accurate. Thank you!
