Don't forget that it may be neither couple. There are a lot of records missing.
good point! I need to find more info to know for sure. I'm keeping an eye out for the family name 'Miller' as that's the middle name of her eldest child.

Had another look at the records on Scotlands People and I reckon the only probable candidates for Mary Ann's parents are:
Now to figure out which ones it is!
- John Hutchinson & Ann Richley, 1797, Leith South
- John Hutchison & Mary McCameron, 1799, Canongate (Mary Ann listed as 'Mary')
