Michael Grogan and Margaret Nixon

Do you have the PAF-5 program?
Its through www.lds.org

If you download it I can send it to you and you can disregard a lot of my family stuff, but I do have many details of who was married or baptised where
Has anyone heard of www.findagrave.com
Im not sure if they have international capabilities, but it would be great to photograph family cemeteries

WOw would I love to attend a family reunion, and to visit Ireland  and England
you both are the keys that two generations of my Halligans have been looking for

I dont know how to relay all this information to my Halligan cousin to whom I found after 10 years of my research not even knowing my G Grandfather

Well I have to go for now

Hope to digest this all beter to plug it into my PAF-5 Program which by the way is FREE

My hands are shaking from excitment

I cant recall all the details that have been left here, and will take some time reviewing them
first off

James Halligan did not die in the United States
He had a son Thomas Halligan my GG Grandfather come to America in 1888 they settled in New Jersey

I will post more on other threads

Before I begin is Kilmore also known as Culmore?
I had a relative pay for a researcher 10 yrs ago and they referenced many births etc as happening in Culmore
This message is loaded with tons of names that maybe someone can connect with. I wish I could have put more in the subject line to attract attention to it. I really feel this can be helpful to someone out there.

What am I looking for?

And descendants of the names mentioned. I have a unbelievable amount of info, and currently am trying to concentrate only on my GGG Grand parents James Halligan-Mary Halligan nee Shannon then marries a Moran

I know where Mary went after James death and will persue that at will, but my biggest dilemma is finding where James Halligan was form and who his parents or siblings from

I was once told that if you send mail to Ireland to a certain person without knowing there address, but there name that there is a chance they might reply. Well this hasn't worked. Months ago I sent a letter to a Stephen Tarpey(Kilkelly), and like I figured no reply

I figured to resend this letter to the forum in case anyone can find a relation to their surname. With me trying to help myself I want to try and help others, so please bare with this huge message

Hello,
My name is Thomas Joseph Halligan from the United States. I’m writing to you with questions that may lead us to the knowledge that we in some way may be related. I would like to have a moment of your time to try and explain this.
   I just recently came into a large amount of information in regards to my family history. A living relative back in 1996 paid for a researcher at the South Mayo Family Research Centre and there was a part added by the researcher that a Stephen Tarpey of Kilkelly may be able to shed some light on a possible family connection. I’m hoping that this is you. I recently tried to contact the person who did this research, but found out that they are no longer employed by the South Mayo Family Research Centre.

   The family connection deals with the Halligan’s and Shannon’s of Culmore (Kilmore)
•   James Halligan marries Mary Shannon 8 Jan 1862 (Mary is from Culmore). The witnesses for this event were(Thomas Harrington & Sabina O’Grady) This information came from-Kilmovee RC reg mars vol2 page 28

•   James and Mary had 5 children that I know of and they are as follows

1.   Thomas Halligan- birth certificate and location are unknown (I would love to have it). Died in New jersey
2.   Bridget Halligan- born Culmore bapt 27 Dec 1863 (Sponsors Patrick ? & Bridget ? ) I’m under the impression that they may have been Halligan’s
3.   Catherine Halligan- bapt 12 Aug 1866 (sponsors Martin Grennan & Eleanor Kelly) died 24 Dec 1866
4.   Mary Halligan- bapt 24 Nov 1867 ( Sponsors Patt Shannon & Mary Duffy) died 24 Nov 1867
5.   Ellen Halligan- born Culmore bapt 10 Oct 1868 (Sponsors Patt Hunt & Catherine Kelly)

•   James Halligan died Feb 25, 1870 aged 35 years ( his burial location remains unknown as well as any other Halligan information before him) This information was found in Kilkelly civ deaths , vol 2, p 79 (informant Catherine Shannon, Barcull)

 Mary Shannon remarries on 9 Feb 1872 in Kilmovee church Daniel Moran of Glentavraun, son of Patrick Moran (witnesses Daniel Horan & Ellen Shannon). They lived in Culmore and had issue;

1.   Catherine Moran bapt 10 Nov 1872 (Sponsors Pat Shannon & Anne Harrington)
2.   Michael Moran bapt 8 March 1874 ( Sponsors Thomas Morley & Mary Morley)
3.   John Moran bapt 12 Dec 1875 (Sponsors Thady Tarpey and Nelly Moran)
4.   Mary Moran bapt 28 Sept 1879 (Sponsors Pat Halligan & Catherine Kelly)
5.   Honor Moran bapt 1 Jan 1882 (Sponsors Thomas Halligan & Bridget Halligan)

Thanks again for all your help

Im in genealogy overload right now and may have to put this all on the back burner for now. This has been the most incredible year of my life honestly

what type of details do the death certs have
I really dont have much to go on for my GGG Grandmother
She was married twice, no actual birth date just a approximate year. I have childrens names and spouse so that could help.
Does it list where they are buried?

Thanks Again
FDorgive me for all the questions
I know I could probably find them out for myself , but I'm in the lazymode right now

 thanks for the reply
I'm not sure if I should just jump at this one, but for some reason as I've been looking to the people in these boards everyone is out there to help not to mislead, and have lots of knowledge to share, so I really appreciate you taking the time out for me

I wouldn't hold anything against you if this wasn't them I assure you
Genealogy is like Gambling-you win you lose

I'm new to exploring the country of England, so I'm totally unfamiliar with the districts, towns, parishes  layout etc and the procedures to obtain records like these

I'm a bit lost as to where Haslingden plays a role in obtaining these documents.

This is the name of the registration district I see, but is this also the place I look to obtain these documents?

How detailed are the England Death Certificates?
What is Q2,Q4 the year divided into quarters?

Q1= jan feb march
Q2=april may jun
Q3= july aug sep
Q4= oct nov dec

Sorry for my ignorance

I thank you again for the time and efforts

Thomas Halligan

I hope I'm in the right place,please bare with me this is my first post. I

My G-G-G Grandmother Mary Shannon DOB 1843 Mayo, Ireland married James Halligan 8 Jan 1862 and had issue 5 children
Thomas,Bridget, Catherine, Mary, Ellen

James died in 25 Feb 1870, and Mary remarried a Daniel Moran 9 Feb 1872(Kilmovee Church)

Daniel Moran was from Glentavraun, son of Patrick Moran

Mary Shannon,Halligan, Moran was from KIlmore(Culmore),Kilkelly, her parents were James Shannon & Mary?

Daniel & Mary then had 5 children while living in Culmore
Catherine,Michael,John,Mary,Honor

I can give more details as to witness's etc to these children, but I'm really for now trying to find out where Mary is buried

The Moran family then immigrated to England, and they are found in the 1891, 1901 Census

1891-Civil Parish Spotland, Borough, County Laucashire, town Stacksteads, and lived at 8 Taylor Terrace

1901- Civil Parish now Bacup all else seems the same, but they may have moved down the road a bit? 12 Taylor Terrace

I'm trying to figure out if Mary and Daniel lived in this area for the remainder of there lives , or did they again immigrate , but this time to the US

If Mary & Daniel stayed I would then try to locate churches and cemeteries in the vicinity

Again I have tons more information on individuals in the family, who married who etc, but I'm trying to make a connection without over doing the names

I'm at a brick wall with Mary's first husband James, so I'm going to see if I can go farther back with Mary

After thinking about it I might as well just add some of the other names in my tree from back in this time period, and they are as follows

Halligan
Shannon
Moran
Hunt
Duffy
McManus
Tarpey

My fingers are crossed
