Hi,
I'm trying to track down any information I can on my great grandfather that might help me identify his birth records. I thought if I could find his military records, they may help steer me. The only information I have found on him - George William Smith (but who could possibly have been William George ), is that he served in 1917 at Messines with the 19th Middlesex. Anyone able to help any further at all, pretty please!

Many thanks,
Charlotte

Hi Guys

Thanks for your help so far. I have been sent a copy of Martha Gault and Archibald McKendry's marriage cert, but I'm struggling with the handwriting. The date is Sept 27th, but I'm unsure if the year is 1894 or 1897. Can anybody please tell me if there is a record that states the year and the location? I believed it to be Ballycastle, but the location on the marriage cert doesn't read that, although I'm struggling with what it does say. It does state a James Gault as a witness, so it could potentially all fit together nicely.

I wondered if I could master a year / location of the marriage, that this would help determine a timeline for the child's birth that I know as Daniel Francis.

Many Thanks,

Charlotte

Hi I'm looking for information on the Gault's and McKendry's of Ballycastle. I believe one of my ancestors was born there, Daniel Francis - son of Martha Gault who later married Archibald McKendry. I'm unsure if he would have been christened Gault or McKendry, but if anyone can help with any name connections that would be great thanks. Charlotte

Hi Kim, thats great news! I have struggled to find other Collins family members, and have only just unearthed 2 others that I know of. Edward George and Bert, who both lived in Walton St with Joseph and Johanna in 1928, along with Josephs son Fred.

Can I ask how you know of Francis date of birth? Do you by any chance happen to have his birth certificate??

Do you use Genes Reunited at all? If so I'd love to take a look at your tree if thats ok, and you are more than welcome to view mine.

I do also have a photo of Joseph/Johanna and Mays grave (another sibling), that I'd be happy to send you.

Thanks for getting in touch. If you'd like to contact me directly, my email address is char5005@hotmail.com.

Look forward to hearing from you again shortly.

Regards, Charlotte.

WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!
What can I say, you are an absolute superstar!! All of those names would seem to fit so perfectly!! Thank you so much. I'll order that certificate and see what it says - it would certainly seem to fit.

If at any point I can return the favour please llet me know.

Kindest regards,

Charlotte.

Hiya,

I initially started on the FreeBMD with Thomas Jones, then with Mary Ann Hobson, and then progressed to any Jones marrying any Hobson, from 1903 back as far as 1870. The only concrete thing I do have is that I know they still lived in the Crescent in the 20's because the address is the same on Beatrice's marriage certificate as it is on her birth cert. The worst thing is that I think Im going to have to wait until 2012 for the 1911 census. How frustrating!!

I have also tried locating records for some of the siblings, and found an entry for an Ena Jones in Edmonton in 1906. Hopefully this is Beat's sister. I think the only way I can prove that concretely though would be to order the cert and see if Im right.

Regards, Charlotte.

Hi, thanks for contacting me.

I can't find a marriage reference at all for Thomas and Mary Ann. Its very infuriating!! I've also tried hunting on the census returns, but am unclear where they lived before the Crescent and even on where Thomas and Mary Ann were born. I found a census return in 1901 for a Thomas Jones, with wife Annie living in Barbot Road in Edmonton, but his occupation is listed as different to what I expected, and I do not recognise the children. Although there is no guarentee that this is not them, my fiance's grandmother recalls the eldest child being called Winnie, and I can't gat this data to tally at all!

I will try the post 1911 returns and see what I can locate, its certainly hard work!

Charlotte.
