Thank you all so much, very informative.  Must admit I would like to know where he was 1939 to his death in 1942.  He was commemorated (and maybe buried) in the family plot in Evangelischer Friedhof Graz St. Peter in Graz, Styria, Austria. The inscription is hard to read.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.  I would like to know more about why people were put on the Registration of Foreigners and German Persecutees.  Who were registered?  Who compiled this list?  I know his death was commemorated in the family grave at Evangelischer Friedhof Graz St. Peter in Graz, Styria, Austria but I don't think this relates to Burial Place Nordfr. 123-1-13 as detailed on the register.

Hope you can help some more!

This is all great, thank you.  Sarah Annie Cain's ashes were scattered in the Parish of Walton on Trent, Derbyshire on the 11th Feb 1960.  The parish entry states she was of The Isle of Man and aged 89.  Hope this helps.

Yes I have seen that marriage listed officially.  I have emailed other family members to see if they remember/know anything about a second marriage before I consider ordering a certificate or two.  I do though (thanks to your pointers) now understand what the annotations can/do mean.

Thank you/diolch.  Harriet's husband did not die until June 1980 but I suppose she could have divorced and married a Mr Brown in 1962.  I thought maybe she married a Mr Brown in 1985.  The interesting thing is there are two death records, identical, except one is for Harriet L Brown and the other for Harriet L Jones:
Registration Date:   May 2004
Registration district:   Dacorum
Inferred County:   Hertfordshire

Dob for both Harriet's the same!  I feel more research needed.

I have the following information :

"Registered living in Dagenham, Essex, Harriet L Jones dob 19 Oct 1916  living with her husband George R W Jones dob 8 Oct 1908, French polisher.

Written in green ink above/next to Harriet's entry:  Brown nee Murray (I think).  In the address column in green is written:  CR 283LNC 29 9 85.

Written in black ink (v faded) 19 10 ?, underneath 22449 and possibly a 1 or a 7."

Please can someone tell me what the green ink and faded black markings mean?  Many thanks.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Help with the Sewell family

It could be that this is how Annie's stay in the hospital was explained to family.  It may or may not be entirely correct but who knows?

So sorry my mistake.  I should have written birth and not marriage.  I have the birth certificate of Frederick Clare, 20th May 1909.  Parents:  Frederick and Annie Clare (formerly Sewell).  The subsequent evidence I have matches the dob of Frederick Clare Jnr but I have been unable to find a marriage.  I surmise that the two never wed as she was at the time married to Thomas Murray.  I have found a baptism for their daughter, Catherine so  b 19th Dec 1899, baptized 11 Jan 1900 at St Paul's Clerkenwell.  Parents Thomas and Hannah Murray (Hannah another version of Ann(e)). Thomas,  News Vendor.
