Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help making sense of marriage in Latin
« on: Tuesday 05 July 22 18:15 BST (UK)  »
This is a marriage entry in Latin from Essex 1539

I initially read it as Wilelmus Ayery son of Johannes Hankyn...
Johanna Schelton dau of Benede Myghtyngall...
then realised that the father's surnames don't match the pair getting married. Could they be step-children? Or does it say something else entirely? My knowledge of Latin is almost nil so I would be very grateful for a translation.
Thanks

Can someone help me with the word in-between filia and Johannus

i.e. Johanna Sudbery filia ???? Johannis Sudbery baptized 26 Oct....

The entry above also mentions a child of Johannis Sudbery so I am wondering if it means "the above JS" or "the said JS"?

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you so much Watson. Your help is much appreciated.

I was hoping it was going to mention a year - it is the first year date mentioned in the 20 pages I have transcribed so far!

Please can someone help me with this phrase from an Essex parish register approx 1550s.
The bit I am trying to read is the phrase above the word Baptizati.
I have included the baptism below it for reference to the writing style.
Thanks

Thank you all very much. I can see it now, it was the tail on the m that threw me!

I am unable to figure out what the father's given name is in this baptism of Gilbert Kinder. It is from 1655 in Essex. At first I thought it must be Hry (Henry) but having read a few more pages the first letter appears to be a W - see the last line of the clip attached in which we have Henry Walch showing the difference between the writer's H and W. There are several baps where this given name is written and it is always written the same way with a dot in the loop.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Scrabble
