Thank you, Forfarian. Is there a website where I might be able to order the death certificate. I am actually going to Forfar area later this year. So hopefully I can find thier graves to put some flowers on them.

That is interesting to know. Thank you. It looks like feet on the ground for this one.perhaps a trip to the local family history society or local genealogy society.

Perhaps not a Chitty then. I wonder if there are any records kept of people in service.
I definitely think Mary was a Denning as there are Dna matches of the Denning family and some are matched that are further back than fourth to fifth cousins.

I did note the witnesses names. I also have a few dna relatives that have  Chitty family from Surrey. So this might be an area to explore. Perhaps her name was Mary Ann.

I had a feeling that these are the names I have been looking for. There is a burial in Angus of a John Anderson in 1895, he died in London but was buried in Angus.
I tentatively put the surnames that you mentioned on my tree and on both sets of parents, myself and many others are at a dead end for years.
I thought if using the Scottish naming system to try to track down the grandparents of John and Annie/Agnes as thier children had Scottish surnames as middle names and indeed Mary my fathers great grandmother carried on this tradition. However, I still am stuck at these people.
Many thanks. I hope one day to get past this dead end.

I do not know how old she was. I have found several records of births of a Mary Denning and I have also found the record that you are talking about. It is the missing years that I am interested in, as this might give more information. I am trying to find out about thier story more than anything. I suppose I really want to know about records of where they lived. Many thanks for looking.

It's been a long time, Forfarian. I hope things a well. I have found a record of thier marriage. Would there be a marriage certificate and if so would the parents names be on that?

Family History Beginners Board / James Denning and his Mother Mary.Dorking,Surrey
« on: Saturday 09 April 22 09:27 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out more about James Denning (base-born) Dec 1805 Dorking, Surrey.  His mother is Mary Denning according to the christening register. I have found out a fair bit about his adult life  but I am trying to find out more about his childhood:where he was brought up;if and where he served an apprenticeship or indentured;addresses he lived at, ect?
Iam also trying to find out about his mother Mary Denning:was Mary in service as a servant;where was she born;didshe eventually marry;what happened to her after the birth of her son, ect?
I have had my DNA done and typed in the name of Denning and the connections of a Denning name from Somerset seem strong they also share DNA with others and I that have James Denning as a common relative. However I cannot find a Mary Denning that fits the age range. Can anyone help?
Are there any records kept of who might of been in service, poor records, adoption records between the years of 1800 and 1825?
