Family History Beginners Board / Re: James Alexander Knipe
« on: Friday 20 September 19 03:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi...My Great Uncles daughter was Georgina Evelyn Ward...she married Constance's brother Alexander Lascelles Knipe in 1930. I know he was medical student and then became a Dr. She was a nurse. They would have met at the Shropshire Infirmary....They had a child in 1940's Alan. Alexander married again a year after that to Pamela Jassoy and they had a daughter Christine ...I have a bit of information on my Ancestry tree, but cant work out if Georgina(Evelyn) and Alexander divorced. Evelyn married in 1955 to George G.C. Smith.
Just wondering if you have any more information?
Cheers
Andrea

Hi Roger,
I assume your ancestor was:
James McNab
1864–1941
Birth 1864 • Queensland
Death 29 SEP 1941 • Queensland
I am on Ancestry.com and Im touch with other relatives in Brisbane...Rebecca who is related on James brother Alexander's side...her Great Grandfather..
My Great Grandfather was Thomas McNab, my mothers Grandfather, he was the youngest of the children..born in 1839 in Blair Atholl Perthshire.
I am also in touch with other McNabs in the UK..where I was born...I know another cousin there has his family tree online too and he will be very interested in your information...
I have traced another cousin to Canada...
Do you belong to  any other sites? I will add all your information to my tree, and also let the others know...how nice to be in touch with a McNab...so proud of my Scottish side.
Cheers

Would any of you have made connections with Captain John McNab (born 1844 in Leith Scotland, to an Adam McNab and Janet (McDonald) )John  married first to a Margaret, then Martha (Connally), and third wife, Dora Day.  He also had two daughters Margaret, from first marriage, and Adam John and Dorthy with his third wife Dora Day.....they were not married while in the UK but did marry in the USA in the early 1900's.....which they continued up to BC Canada...
Hi Lisa,
My McNab family are mostly from Blair Atholl and surrounds, I don't recall any John. Some of them went to Australia and NZ, and I think one to Canada...but not a John. Good luck with your research.
Cheers

I have looked everywhere...the Martha in Devon isn't the same one, as her children are Edward, Mary and Martha...mine are all christened in St Marys Bridgwater and are Francis 1827/8 and Martha and Mary twins 1832. Father John Southwood and Martha Rowland were married there in 1827.
I have been looking for some time and cant find what happened apart from Francis and Martha living with the grandparents in Bridgwater in 1841, no sign of Mary....Francis, I know about his tree, but not the other children. Even their father disappeared in Tasmania in 1842 as he absconded...

Thank you...I did know that there was another Martha with the same daughters names but different husband, Edward...and duh of course she is a listed as a spinster...lol But interesting the the middle name is Rowland, her mothers maiden name.
I will see if I can get the certificate then in case its the one I'm after..
Cheers  :)

I am trying to see what age Martha Rowland Southwood is from a marriage certificate.
I have a copy of the Marriage license, but unfortunately it doesn't say on there.
I am trying to work out if its the mother, or daughter, who married John Simmons at St Martin in the Fields,London Jan qtr 1853.
Martha's maiden name was Martha Rowland, b approx 1795, she married John Southwood in Bridgwater Somerset in 1827, he was sent to Tasmania as convict in 1832.
I know my next step would be to apply for the marriage certificate, but it is costly, so any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Andrea
