Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Re: Kidd family-Scarborough; Anyone know about them?
« on: Monday 13 February 23 04:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, re the Kidd family,
My grandmother was, Agnes Evelyn Kidd (1896-1981). Her father was William Marshall Kidd (1865-1944) born Scarborough, North Yorkshire. A Coal merchant. In relation to captain Kidd, I believe he only had two daughters….possibly stepdaughters.
Regards
Michael Nichols

Thanks to all….more confusion, especially from Trish1120, 1 year old Margaret Nichols (1850)?? Mary married Edmund Barham, 1834.
I believe this was both Mary’s (1800-1868) and Edmund’s second marriage, the first for Mary was to another Edward Nichols (1798)…I think.

Hi Girl Guide, I thought that because I'm going to New Zealand tomorrow for ten days and probably no contact, I didn't want you all to think I'd just disappeared. If and when I get contact with the schools (one in Scarborough and one in Saltaire) I would repost to let you know. Being new to this I wasn't sure if should leave it open or close it?

Thanks to all. I have tried all avenues that I know of ( not many) there is a gap of twenty years, from birth to marriage. I have located a school in the Scarborough area close to the family residence and dating back to the 1890's. Sent an email...waiting for a response.

Hi Craclyn, it wasn't the mother who died it was her the grandmother. The mother, my grandmother was there with her father plus one other. I assumed it was his wife but since found out she passed the day prior to 1939 register. So my thought is, it may be either my father or aunt, as my father would have been about 13 years old, and my aunt about 9 years old. I would guess at my aunt....but how to prove it.

Thanks Girl Guide, viewed it this afternoon. It would appear Elizabeth Kidd died the day prior to the register.....
