Essex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Andrews family from Essex, 1800s

Trish I love you  :-*

Patience is pretty much a necessity when you're researching your tree isn't it!  The trouble is that once you get a few generations back, you have so many people to research and the 'difficult' ones get pushed to one side.

You've certainly given me a welcome boost here with lots to get on with now.

Many, many thanks!

R.

Thanks Dave, you're a useful chap to know!! :)  Seem you've tracked her down.  Not quite so slippery after all!

Dave,

She's a slippery character, as you say, no record of births or marriages in Pewsey at all.  It could be that she was born just up the road in Wilcot?  But that still doesn't explain the lack of marriage records.  There is nothing on the IGI either.

Thanks Alf, I'm leaning towards that theory, which means that my Mary Ann is the later one.  She was born in Redbrook so I guess that her sister would have been buried around there somewhere.

Thanks Alf, no I didn't have that.  I'm still desperately confused over why two daughter, born within two years, with the same name though... Did the first Mary Ann die before her 2nd birthday I wonder?

Gloucestershire / Cowmeadow family - Forest of Dean

I'm looking for info on one of my ancestors, Mary Ann Cowmeadow.

She married Joseph Nicholls in 1836, and her parents were James Cowmeadow, and Elizabeth (Surname unknown).  I am pretty sure that she is the right person as she is listed on the sensus as being born in Redbrook, and she is the only Mary Ann Born in Redbrook at the right time.

The problem I have is this... James and Elizabeth appear to have had two daughters, christened on 14.11.1813 and 20.7.1815 respectively, they were both called Mary Ann though!!  How do I find out which one is mine?

Also, I have no info on Elizabeths surname and cannoot trace a marriage.. anyone got any ideas??

Thanks.

jorose - no I don't have the marriage certificate yet.  I like to make sure I've exhausted all free avenues before spending the cash on a certificate!  :)
