Thanks, I'll check that out.

Ellen C is possibly at school in Woolwich, so James C maybe also. He enlisted in the Royal Engineers in 1902

Devon Lookup Requests / Re: Birth Lookup - Thomas WATTS c1841 Bittadon
« on: Thursday 29 February 24 03:33 GMT (UK)  »
Just for completeness, in case anyone else is searching, I finally found him! Born 22 May 1839 Bittadon.  :)

Thomas Watts
Birth quarter   2 Birth year   1839
Mother's maiden name   Daniel
District   Barnstaple County   Devon
Volume   10 Page   40

Which is weird as GRO had previously advised that the 1839 registration did not have father's name of Joseph, and yet there it is!

Yes of course, I'd forgotten that Robert Dorman married another sibling Elizabeth Adams, so we have numerous connections. Once you have posted 3 times I will be able to send you a message with my contact details.

Through another 'cousin' we have established that Jacob Gowland Dorman was born Dec 1834 Chester Le Street, Durham, and married Margaret Anne Fenwick 12 June 1855 in Constantinople.

Welcome MW!

I've been hoping someone from the Canadian line would surface sometime. And these are the Dormans I'm looking for :) I know a little about the Bowen Island Dorman line and Sarah Adams (Jacob The younger's wife) as my ancestor married her brother Alfred Adams. But the older Jacob has been incredibly elusive.

Can't wait to learn more. And photos!

Very excited,
Jane

Hi Rosemary, and Campbell

Lovely to hear from you and apologies for delayed response. I've been away and for some reason was unable to post a reply on my ipad.  I'd be very interested in your transcription of the Parlett letters, as this is my ancestral line.

Cheers.

Hi Suraya,

Lovely to hear from you, and welcome to RootsChat. By strange coincidence I also live in Perth!

My connection to your branch of the family is not close, but I was intrigued to follow up any of the Dewing family in Australia. I will PM you tonight and send details of how our families connect. I'll have to look it up as its been some time since I looked at this part of the tree.

Cheers,
Jane Dewing
