Armed Forces / Dorset Regt c. 1934-1945

Hello all,

Just posting a picture to see if it jogs any memories of their fathers/grandfathers. My grandfather Joseph O'Hanlon was in the Dorset Regiment, pictured here in a football tournament in 1934. Would love to know if anyone can pick anyone out in the picture.

I bet he was called Benoit if he was Belgian and couldn't read, hence the Benoath and eventually Noah...

Antrim / Hudderson's (?) Place
« on: Saturday 14 August 21 15:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

Trying to trace a family relative... Noah Wantten, sometimes Wanten and even Want (mistranscribed as Mont in Roots Ireland).

Re-marries as widower Mary Donnan, widow, in 1914 in St Matthew's, Ballymacarrett- both addresses Hudderson's Place. Might her first husband be William Donnan d. Chemical St 1909?

Where was Hudderson's Place (??) in Belfast?

So far have marriage of son Frank in 1911, birth of daughter Mary in 1901, and death of first wife Netta (maiden name Aserich or something like it). Also Mary's marriage to Joseph McCartan in 1923.

Any leads on Hudderson's Place or this family Wanten/Wantten/Want appreciated.

thanks Aghadowey,

I've been replying to that one too but not much action!

Think I've mostly cracked as much as I can with the records that are currently consultable online so trying to make connections at this stage.

All the best,

Karl

Hi Morris,

I'm pretty sure we're researching the same family. My grandfather Joseph is brother of James, m. Martha Russell. Think Robert m. Alice is their son, according to my aunt.

I've pieced lots together by now. Happy to send you my tree.

All the best,

Karl
