I would like to know the background information on William Leslie who had a street named after him on Moreton Island off Brisbane.  I think it is in Cowan Cowan area.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas.

My Grandmother Elizabeth Moffatt Russell b Dec 1868 Kilsyth, Scotland emigrated to New Zealand.  She accompanied Mr and Mrs Garciner and their daughter Sarah.  I am wondering if Elizabeth was staying with the Gardiner family in Wellington.  They arrived in Wellington November 1901.  Elizabeth worked in Hobson Street, Wellington for Monteith and also Warrens.

Elizabeth m my grandfather Charles Robert Matthews April 1904 at Wellington.

Would anyone be able to find me Elizabeth in an Electoral Roll from Nov  1901. She died Oct 1937. At that stage she was living at 27 Nelson Street, Petone.

Thank you

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: TARANAKI LAND 1894

Thank you Althea and Janette for all your help.  I will follow up the LAND INFORMATION Althea.
Janette, my mind boggles with all the possible information contained in the New Zealand past newspapers.  I have already come across my father and mother's wedding notice and noted my grandfather had applied for leave of absense on account of the illhealth of his wife.  My father in his writeup on his history had made note of the fact that "it was too wet being near the mountain."  That is an amazing piece of information you have found for me.  Thank you very much.

New Zealand Completed Requests / TARANAKI LAND 1894 *COMPLETED*
« on: Friday 26 November 10 04:35 GMT (UK)  »
My grandfather Charles Robert Matthews b 1866 Holborn, London emigrated to NZ 1894 arriving in Auckland.  According to my father his father Charles worked in the Taranaki district for several years and he bought 100 acres of ground (partly felled bush) at Matu.  He sold the land after six months. and went to work at Wallaceville Laboratory.

Would there be any records available of Charles Matthews living at Auckland Taranaki for that time period?

Also where would I obtin information re the purchase of the land and the sale of the land to a Mr Willie Campbell, a local farmer.?

Thank you
