Essex Lookup Requests / Re: Robert Laver & Hannah Fairhead
« on: Monday 07 March 22 08:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Robert Laver m Hannah Fairhead 10 March 1789 at St Michael Archangel in Braintree. Hannah is from the neighbouring Parish in Bocking.
.....
I have a couple of potential requests for assistance please:
........

Finally I can't locate a birth for Hannah Fairhead in Bocking. Has anyone spotted a birth in a neighbouring parish. Also on Ancestry there are a number of family trees referring to Hannah Fairchild. I'm presuming this is a mistake.

Any assistance please would be greatly received.
Regards
Warwick

Hi again. Seeking further help please.
Further to this earlier post I am interested to understand whether it is Hannah Fairhead or Fairchild. I have not sighted the original but the transcription records Fairhead. Has anyone access please to the original and able to comment whether the transcription is correct.
Also still trying to locate Hannah's birth?
Any assistance much appreciated.
Regards

Thank you both Amondg and Rosie – much appreciated.
Firstly I note that this section of my tree was earlier work so I’m revisiting at present to extend and validate.
As Rosie noted Joseph was 6 in 1841. His birth was 9 May 1835, christening 19 July 1835 Primitive Methodist Church at Nenthead. I have his death as 4 Sept 1842 Stainton Dacre CUL so must have found that somewhere. Will have to check if I have it noted in any papers.
Regarding Matthew– that is not sourced as well. But I do have the specific date of 7 Sept 1855 at Patterdale where the family moved to after Stainton. I suspect it might be the parish register.

Still keen to track the other three children.
Thank you again for your interest.

Cumberland / Children of John Bell & Hannah Cousin of Alston / Nenthead
« on: Tuesday 18 January 22 00:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. Looking for assistance please in tracking some of the children of John Bell (b1796) and Hannah Cousin (b1798).
In the 1841C the family are at Stainton, Dacre (near Penrith) with six sons William, Thomas, John, George, Matthew and Joseph.  Older daughter Mary has yet to be tracked in the 1841C but reappears in 1851C.

- There is a daughter Hannah b 8 March 1828 Nenthead CUL, Christened 25 Dec 1828 Primitive Methodist Church. She is not with the family in the 1841C when they are found at Stainton, Dacre so presume she might have died?
-  John (b 6 Jan 1826, Christened 19 Sept 1826 Redwing Congregational Church) can not be found after 1841C. Looking for him?
- George is a Grocers Apprentice in Penrith in 1851C but then disappears.
(Joseph dies in 1842, Matthew dies in 1855; the three eldest William, Mary and Thomas all marry)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated please.
Regards
Warwick.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Edward Harrison, son of William Wood

Hi again.
Have tracked the William Woods family you identified and it looks the most promising. They are living on Scotland Rd Kirkdale which is north of the city centre in 1841 and keep near that proximity in subsequent census's. Edward and his wife Ellen are living relatively close when they get married in 1854.

However there is also the other William Woods, painter of same age living with his father William Woods aged 65, Joiner and older brother Thomas aged 32, Taylor in Knotty Ash.  Not able to track them in later Census's yet.   Knotty Ash is to the east about 6km towards Prescot. So I'm favouring the other family but we don't have the evidence.

There is also a Susannah b1799 and James b1811, children of William and Susannah Evans.

I've located a descendant of William and Susannah and hoping to make contact to see if a DNA match might be possible.

Yet to locate a christening for Edward!

Cheers

Hi
Thank you for your help. That looks promising.
I did find two William Woods who are painters in Lancaster in 1841C.
Both are aged 30 and live in Walton on the Hill, Everton, Liverpool, one with mother and siblings, other with father and brother.

Somehow need to determine which one it might be.

Cheers

1851 has an Edward Woods born 1830 as a step son age 21 errand boy born Wrighlington? Lancs

Might be worth checking that one out just in case.

Head of house appears to be

George Caunce 64
wife Jane 62

Marriage for Jane Woods to George Caunce in 1838

Marriage confirms she was a spinster living Wrightington?

So don't know if that fits or not  :-\

If he made up a father you would think he would match the surname to his own.

Milliepede - I think we pass on that listing as the census original notes the stepson is Blind. My Edward would not be. Also Edward in 1861, 71 and 81 census have him all born Liverpool 1829/1830.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Edward Harrison, son of William Wood

Hi. Looking for help please in regard to Edward Harrison b circa 1830.
Edward married Ellen Harrison b 2Dec 1832 (eldest child of William Harrison and Anne Williams) in West Derby in 1854. On the marriage certificate Edward's father is noted as William Woods, Painter.  That suggests his mothers maiden or married surname is Harrison.

Yet to locate Edward in 1841C and 1851C. There are a few options. Most likely I thought from both census's he was related to Thomas b1796 Joiner & Mary b 1796 Harrison living Kensington Street 1851. The name of Edward's first child strengthened that case however I disproved this as the two children of this couple are both christened in St Peters is 1831 and 1833 to Thomas and Mary.

1861 England Census records Edward at 20 Mop? St Everton (St George Ecclesiastical District) with wife Ellen, and children Thomas, Hannah, E(dith?) Jane and Richard. Occupation "labourer docks".

Have had little success in also identifying William Wood. There are only two William Woods who are painters in Lancaster in 1841C if he was still alive. Both are aged 30 and live in Walton on the Hill, Everton, Liverpool, one with mother and siblings, other with father and brother.

I'm keen to find please Edward's baptism and hopefully through that identify his mother. Identifying more details of his father would be great to.
Any assistance please much appreciated.
Cheers Warwick
