Wondering if you have any way to contact 8mk as we are definitely related. If not, understood...

Hi OPPO,

Like yourself, I'm just a member of RootsChat.

In order to contact 8mk, I think you will need to click 'Contact Support' on the HOME page, and ask the administrators/moderators for assistance. The button is in the bottom right corner of the page.

Many thanks, I'll do that...  8)

On family search, noted as Major Charles Christian
Burial 26 Mar 1699
Braddan, Isle of Man

Colin

Many thanks Colin. This shows he died within a year of his daughter being born.

Just looked at this Charles and it appears he was born in 1645. I think my Charles was born around 1665, but yet to confirm that.

Looking at the image of the parish record (FamilySearch.org) it is clear to me that the bride's name is Ann Clucas. ;)

Clucas is a relatively common Manx surname.

Many thanks. I got the name from a translated site which didn't have the original image. Appreciate you clarifying that. Now to search for more... 8)

Images from Manx Parish Registers have (mostly!) been captured by the LDS Church, and therefore available on FamilySearch.org.

Perfect. Thanks again...

Isle of Man / CHRISTIAN & CHICAS BRADDAN IofM

Hello,

I have ancestors Charles CHRISTIAN and Ann CHICAS, married in Braddan, on 02 October 1689. Their daughter, Ann CHRISTIAN, (1698-1745), is also my direct ancestor.

I haven't found any further information on Charles CHRISTIAN or Ann CHICAS and their family, so any assistance is appreciated.  I am particularly interested in the CHICAS family line and name as it is rare and sounds like it's a Mediterranean name.

Many thanks in advance...

I may do as I believe this is the same person that contacted me on Ancestry but unfortunately they had their settings not to receive messages so I was unable to reply.  I had hoped they'd be available on this site but they may have made the same settings?

Thanks, that's them!  I've sent a PM to my distant relative above so hopefully we'll be able to exchange information. One of the references my Grandfather had when joining the Irish Guards was Victor FAUVELLE.
