Oxfordshire / Mr H Scragg - Elliston & Cavell
« on: Monday 09 September 13 12:49 BST (UK)  »
In a recent article published in the Oxford Mail, there was a photograph which had been taken in 1959 of long serving staff members from Elliston & Cavell Department Store.  One of the staff members was identified as Mr H Scragg.

I have ancestors with the family name of Scragg but would love to know if this Mr Scragg could be one of mine.  I'm hoping that there may be someone out there who knows who this Mr H Scragg was and what his first name was.  Or failing that, anyone who has family who worked at Elliston & Cavell that may have worked with him.

Thanks in advance, Cheryl

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Look up request - Deadman
« on: Sunday 23 January 11 13:48 GMT (UK)  »
I would be grateful if anyone has access to either St Ebbes or Holy Trinity Parish Records for a birth look up from 1896 onwards for children of George & Mary Deadman (nee Scragg).  I am aware of 2 children -  Margaret (b.1896) and George (b.1897) but no other details and would be interested to see if there are any others.
Many thanks in advance

Essex Lookup Requests / Leyton Parish Records
« on: Wednesday 04 August 10 18:57 BST (UK)  »
I'm hoping some kind person may be able to help me with a brick wall i'm struggling with!

I'm trying to find a death record for Eliza Beat (formerly Witt) born in 1880 and who I believe died somewhere between 1913 when her last child was born and 1930 when her husband remarried. On the husbands 2nd marriage cert, he was stated as a widow, although it's quite possible he wasn't really!! The last address I have for her was on the 1911 census as Tyndall Road, Leyton.

I've searced on BMD and Ancestry under various combinations of surname spellings but i'm stumped. If anybody has access to Parish Records in or around Leyton who could have a look for me, I would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance
Cheryl

Hi Diane
I can't see an obvious match but I haven't yet fully explored my Clinton line. I'll bear this is mind and it could be that the link is a bit further back. I'll certainly be in touch if I do uncover a connection at a later stage.

Many thanks for this link. It had a road on it that I'd previously had difficulty tracking down.  Brilliant find.

Berkshire Lookup Requests / William Fowler - baptism look up please
« on: Sunday 03 May 09 18:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I would be most grateful if there is anyone with access to baptism records could look for a William Jesse Fowler born about 1873.  I've found him on census records which state place of birth as Appleton but I just can't find a birth record with a date range that fits.

Many thanks

BETT/BEAT (1680s-1770s) - Crail, Aberdour, Dunfermline (John married Isabell Norrie 1709)

The furthest back I have been able to track so far is that I have a John Beat (b.1806) from Kingsbarns who later married a Janet Thomson in 1827.
