That’s ok thanks for all your help. I did check the death certificate but it doesn’t seem like the right one either.

Unfortunately on that census the wife and daughter are both called Grace. I’ll still check out the death certificate

Great find John. I agree this has to be them. I’ll try and find out when John Stewart senior died.

Thanks. I’m still struggling to find John or Mary on the Scottish census before he moved to Middlesborough. I’ll keep trying

I’m pretty sure it is correct. This is his marriage certificate and he has wrote the name as Crombley on here

Thanks I’ll have a look at the Dundee courier. Yes very confusing family. I’m looking at the 1891 census for the addresses that we know about but I’m struggling to find a connection. Mary’s address when she died has some Stewart’s living their but the head of the house Joseph Stewart was born in Ireland in 1864 and there are also a McKenna family living there born in 1848 that could have been related to her son James family that he married into. I’m struggling to find Charles Stewart on the census. I thought I found him married to an Elizabeth but I don’t think it says Mary for his mother. It’s very hard to read it.

Thanks I’ll try Cassan. I’ve tried Kesser Kessen Hesser Hesser Keysar and Kayser but I’m not having much luck
