Bedfordshire & Luton Archives might be a good place to ask - based in Bedford.

That's great. Thanks.

St Paul’s was in Hibbert Street, listed in Kelly’s, 1898. Since demolished and rebuilt nearby, it seems.
Yes and I expect the old grave yard has been reclaimed for other uses. Thank you

But you know from the newspaper report that the burial took place at the Church Cemetery, Luton.  Genuki give this description:

on the east side of the town is the Church Burial Ground, of about 2½ acres, purchased and laid out in 1854, on the closing of the parish churchyard, and extended to 44 acres in 1893, the total cost being about £1,100; it has also a small chapel, and is managed by seven trustees; adjoining is a burial ground belonging to the Society of Friends', which was opened in 1858.

I would also assume that a church service would have been held at St Paul's church - one of the tributes to Joseph was from St Paul's Church Men's Service.  BUT Genuki does not list St Pauls in their list of Luton churches  :-\ :-\  The funeral was arranged by Messrs T & E Neville of Castle Street.
Thank you, I agree, I thought the service and burial would have taken place there. I thought there might be a grave yard at St Paul's, perhaps a long time ago.  Google Earth shows a car park across the road, so perhaps this was the old grave yard.

Hi,
many thanks to Sue for the funeral newspaper cutting. This is a funeral notice for Joseph Bird, dod 21/04/1917. I am searching for church records, burial records and perhaps a grave photo. I can't find anything, maybe some one might be able to locate the information. Their son Hayden and granddaughter Marian Bird both passed in 1987, so any burial/funeral notice would be most welcome. Thanking you sincerely.

I had read a report of Joseph's funeral in the Luton News & Bedford Chronicle, 3 May 1917 when chasing No 33. Minnie's address given as "No 33 Russell Rise".
Thanks for that. I searched for that. but can't find it. Could you try and relocate it and send me the article.

Thanks for clarifying.
Have to admit I wondered if I'd come across an early "Del boy"!
They probably were, but that was Minnie Bird, who also ran a green grocery. Joseph Bird, her husband and (great grandfather) was committed to Three Counties Asylum where he died in 1917. The 1911 census shows him at 33 Russell Rise. Three Counties has been a family secret, taboo and never discussed. I only discovered that when I began research, very recently. I hope to find out the reason for that committal, because he was a bit old for WW1. Thanks again for the info, very thoughtful of you.

Sincere thanks.

Hayden Bird married Vera F E Armitage 1934 registered Luton.

As of 1939 they had one daughter Marian W V Bird born 6 January 1935.

No indication she married.
.
There is a death 1987 registered Westminster of Marian Winifred V Bird with the same birth date.

Not likely any family from Hayden or Winifred in England.

Hi there - there wasn't a census in 1932, do you mean maybe a electoral register or other record?

Looking at freebmd the most likely marriage would be the 1936 to Harold E Turner, followed by a death in 1964 (as Winifred M Turner - age does seem approx correct).  All these events are in Luton district.

He may have previously married to Lilian V Young (she died maybe 1932), in which case there were children to this marriage (I cannot see children for the Turner/Bird marriage).

That is the correct Winnifred. Thank you sincerely

Unless someone can confirm from another source, the marriage certificate might be the only evidence to show if this is the right Winifred.
