Hehe yeah guess those kind of semi relevent details might help :)

Sorry,

Trevor Roberts - arrived well jumped ship in 1950... like i said think it was Napier, but could be wrong... know it was lower north island for certain though.  Trevor was originally Welsh, however I believe he was living in England prior to leaving and the company the boat belonged to was SHAW SAVILL & ALBION.

The ship he jumped from was the Persic. And I think there were a couple of them that jumped at the same time, due to a dispute with the chef or something - so the tale goes.

I'm also interested in any court/police records in regards to someone jumping ship - but a little more recent than 1800's.... my Grandfather jumped ship, instead of returning to England in 1950.  He was caught and had to report to a local police station every day for a month until his court case....

Does anyone know if we have anywhere online or offline that I would be able to find record of this?

New Zealand Completed Requests / Defence Peronnel Records - worthwhile?

Hey, first time posting here - rather new to the whole family history thing in general.

But basically, thinking of requesting an old army personnel record for a distint relative, who was KIA in WWI.

How much info do these records normally contain?  And I'm picking its a long shot hoping for details of parents or next of kin right?
