I am new to this site and am still finding my way.  I have Balfour's in my family.  Janet Gilmour Balfour was my great grandmother.  Her parents were William Balfour, a coalminer inspector in Auchterderran, and Mary Clark.
My grandmother, Mary Arnott and her brother, Thomas were the children of William and Janet Arnott.
Can anyone give any more info on this family from Fife?

Many thanks
Lorraine
hi if you have not found the info you need give me a shout as I have the info for you

Hi Carol - I am related to you through the cullen family - please get in touch - bambie
I've just read one of the 'look up offers' for Northumberland about irregular marriages and I'm wondering if a marriage I'm searching for but can't find might be an irregular marriage.

The marriage I'm after took place in the 1850s, probably before 1857 when the first child was born. The marriage was between GEORGE LEE (b. Tweedmouth 1836) and MARGARET CULLEN (b. Berwick 1839). Margaret's father was called Thomas Cullen. I'm unsure of George's father's name (either George or Robert). George appears to have spent all his life in Tweedmouth with the exception of 1858 when he was in Eyemouth, Scotland.

Hope you can help.

Kind regards,

Carol

Hi Kath,

Thank you for trying to find the Cullen/Lee marriage. The info about her father's marriage is interesting - I've got a marriage certificate for him from 1839 - marrying a Mary Jane Brown in Lewisham. I'll have to do more digging around to find out which one is the right one!

Carol
Hi I think you might be a distant cousin of mine - thomas cullen and mary jane brown were my 3rd gt grandparents and I have margaret cullen and her hubby george lee and their children - kind regards bambie

Hello!

I know it's a while since you posted this message, but I've only recently discovered my Cullen link. Margaret Cullen married George Lee around 1857. She is on the 1861, 1871 and 1881 census - I have this information if you would like it. She remarried in December 1882 in Berwick to either George Anderson or George Curry. I can't work out which. Isabella is on the 1861 census - but as Culley. I can't find her after that.

Hope this is of use.
Regards, gosh that is great - would love to have any census or info you have
 - and I shall give you anything you want that I have found - so happy to have found margaret cullen and now its only isabella now - got the rest - tks a million kind regards bambie
