Warwickshire / Re: St Barnabas Church Erdington rebuild
« on: Tuesday 02 September 14 13:16 BST (UK)  »
Well better late than never I suppose, I've finally managed to see the inside of St Barnabas on a weekday although I hadn't got a decent camera with me!

(The grave photo of Sergeant Harris is for Chris.)

I am remembering WW1 military men who are buried at St Barnabas and adding to their life stories on https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/community/1059 So if anyone has information about them either let me know or add information to their page yourself.

many thanks, Sharon

Markaw I've sent you a personal message.

Markaw - wow a relative! How are you related to him. I'm from his daughter Ethel's branch of the family. I've just found out this week that he had a second family after his first wife died. I knew he'd been remarried but didn't know he had more children.

and yes the Smith's are a pain to trace!

Sharon
P.S
I've remembered Sidney at Lives of the First World War https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/4163880

Thank you both,
Yes I've checked all Gravelly lane and Queens St (where Sidney's parents live) in 1911 but no luck.
The certificates are a good idea when I' ve got the money!
It's been useful just listing everything I already knew, straight away the gap was there for the birth location of the other children.
I've also not had any luck searchingwith his occupation of stonemason, but I'm not sure just how good the search parameters are on FindMyPast and Ancestry.

I can't find my great grandfather and family including my grandmother on the 1911 census. I apologise for the long list below but it' s all the info I have found on him. He was a stonemason and worked away from his home of Erdington Warwickshire. In 1904 he was in London and by 1914 he was in the Hampshire regiment of the army. I've ruled out any known relatives' homes in case the family had split up. Any suggestions of where/ how to find him would be greatly appreciated.
