Martha Rhodes was born in 1840 at Kirk Deighton to James Rhodes (b. ca. 1803, Wetherby) and Hannah Dalby (b. 1802, Linton). I can't see any connection with your James. Rhodes would be one of the more common names in the north of England.

Thanks Damian. There is lots of info in your post that I shall have to work through. Thanks especially for the details of Mary's first marriage.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Marriage of Harold Berry

Does anyone have access to Yorkshire Quaker records? I'm looking for the marriage of my uncle Harold Berry. (b.1911, Leeds and d.1940, Leeds) His father's name was Harry. There are two possible marriages in the YorkshireBMD records.

1932 BERRY Harold / HAWKRIDGE Ellen Quaker Meeting House Leeds QUAK/5/10
1933 BERRY Harold / WELSH Winifred Leeds South Registered Building Leeds SOUTHRB/12/81

On the assumption that he would have been an Anglican, (at least nominally) i bought the certificate for the Winifred Welsh marriage. This turned out to be the incorrect marriage.

The Hawkridge marriage is the only other possibility unless my uncle married further afield than Leeds.
Thanks for any help. PeterB

I'm looking for my mother's cousin, George Frederick Wilson. Born in Leeds in 1912, Son of George Frederick Wilson (who may have died in 1936). There are three possible marriages in the Leeds area that could be the younger George.

1933   WILSON George F / SHARP Lena at St George, Leeds CE44/I/278
1936   WILSON George F / DODDS   Ada Trinity Church Tempest Road, Hunslet AP113/C/17
1946   WILSON George F / BROADBENT   Molly   St Mary, Beeston CE4/D/437

Does anyone have access to these records to see if My George f is among them?

Thanks for any help, PeterB

Hi Julie,
Ruth married Herbert Clay. He was the brother of my grandfather John Clay, which would make him my great uncle. I don't really know anything about Ruth's family except what is in this thread. Good luck with your search.

Hi Mike, I have this marriage record. It could be useful to you.

m. 28/9/1867 St Saviour Church Leeds
Alfred Berry, 24, bachelor, furnaceman
of East King Street
Father, William Berry, Dyer
Ann Elizabeth Thompson, 21, spinster of East King Street
Father, Martin Thompson, cabinet maker

Thanks Nick, my 3xgreat grandfather James Clay and his family moved to Farnley and stayed long enough for their daughter Mary to marry one of the locals (in 1818). Your family and mine are connected through Mary.
