Hi Carole

This is the right lady

Name: Lily Hamblin - no marriage found for her and Albert Dew (3 children from this partnership - left them behind when she left Gloucestershire) Known as Lily Dew

Leaves at some point and ends up in Kent

Changed her name to Priscilla Dew and Married: Herbert Smith 1916 and migrated to Canada where she went on to have more children.

Hi Tilly
The house that Priscilla worked in I used to drive past every day for years and my dentist was almost next door
It was up for sale a while back. Some pictures here

Cheriton, All Souls
1916 1st Jul, By Banns
SMITH Herbert Emery, Ba, age 21, abode Ross Barracks, occupation Soldier, father Henry, occupation Dec.
DEW Priscilla Lillian Winifred, W, age 21, abode 45 High Street, occupation Dom. servant, father Harry HAMBLIN occupation Miner.
Witnesses: Charles BOSTOCK, Ruth SMITH.

Now Herbert's father Henry's occupation, at first I thought it was short for decorator, but it's against several other occupations so I assume it's short for Deceased.

Betty, thank you so much you have helped breakdown my brick wall!  I wasn't sure if this lady was the one, I have been searching for some time.

Thanks

I am looking for confirmation of a marriage and wondered if someone could check the parish records for me, please?

Marriage between Herbert Emery Smith & Priscilla L W Dew took place somewhere between July - Sept 1916. (Free BMD Sept 1916 Elham).  I believe that they may have been married at All Souls Church, Cheriton Street, Folkstone.

TIA

Hi John,

Yes thank you I found that information earlier today.   Elizabeth Wheeler M: 1950

Now sorting through their children - from what I can find I think 3 - possibly 4 of them went to Australia. Agnes Elvira, Frank, Jack and I'm not sure about Lillie/Lily.  More work to be done.

Thanks
Tilly
