I have been trying to sort out the Artingstall family from Bowdon to which I am distantly related. I have managed to group together the family of Josiah Artingstall with sons Josiah, Zaccheus, Isaiah, William, John, James and possibly Deborah from the will of Josiah Arstingstall dated 25th Jan 1771. The surname is spelt with many variants which makes it much harder.

I am looking for several things:
Zaccheus, who lived in Mottram St Andrew. His baptism and marriage
Zaccheus' son John, his baptism date
Isaiah who died 1770, from Stake Hill, Middleton, buried at Bowdon Cheshire. His baptism
Deborah Astall, who married John Cooms 24 Apr 1732. Her baptism
George Artingstall, of Chelford, nephew to Josiah, named in will of 1771. His baptism and parents

I know this is a big ask but it will be some time before I can get up to the Cheshire Record Office. Thank you

The Mary Barratt age 61 who died and was buried at Uppingham 20/7/1804 is interesting. If it is Daniel's mother she would have been 46 yrs old when he was born.
Charles Barratt married Mary Sumpter 16/7/1789. Daniel was baptised 19/4/1790 at Uppingham. Its possible its her and could explain why no siblings have turned up so far as she was 45 or 46 when she was married and became pregnant.

I have sent for a copy of Charles Barratt's will from the NRO. Maybe this will help!

I have just found a Clement Barratt with a wife Katherine (nee Burton)too. I have no dates for him at all from Bulwick but his brother John was born in Bulwick in 1712 to Clement and Frances (Bottomley) Barratt. It looks like this could be him.
Daniel is the grandson of John 1712.
Clement and Katherine were married at Uppingham in January 1726. This info was from the Northants Marriage Index. All there children were born at Uppingham between 1730-1741. An email correspondent gave me this.
A visit to the archives definitely called for.

Hi Crowboy,
Thank you so much for looking through the fiches.
Yes thats my Daniel, my 4 X great grandfather. I am sure the others are family too as we have several Clement Barratts in the early 18thC.
I think I might have to travel over to Northamptonshire again to have a look at the Uppingham connection.
I know Uppingham isnot too far away from Bulwick, about 6 1/2 miles I think.
Do you know if the records for Uppingham are at the NRO or Rutland please? I wonder where the wills would be too?
Anyway, thank you so much for finding this out for me.

I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to do a look-up for the baptism ofDANIEL BARRATT son of Charles Barratt and his wife Mary (Sumpter) about 1789 at Uppingham.
The family were from Bulwick, Northants but I think they spent a few years in Uppingham and there may well be other children too.

best wishes,
Catherine P.

I have just checked my database of burials at the General Cemetery at Lister Lane, Halifax where I remembered that there were several Mewburn burials. The young children who died in Halifax are buried in grave number 363/364, a vault grave. Please contact me if you would like further details.

I am hoping to come up to Enfield to look for the graves of members of the LARMAN family who were buried at Enfield.
The one I would most like to find is of William Larman, buried 29th Jan 1847 at St.Andrews.
Is there still a graveyard? If there is, have the headstones been transcribed?
Would be interested to know if anyone has come across Larman graves either at St.Andrews or Edmonton cemetery.
Thank you

I have found Charles Edward Walker on the baptism register for Stainland, old chapel. This was a C/E chapel of Ease for Elland, St. Mary. It was also used by the Wesleyan Methodists for joint services until they broke away and built their own chapel.
Samuel Harper Walker was a worsted top maker, ie a woollen manufacturer who died in 1846. Unfortunately I have not found him on the 1841 census yet.
His father was also Samuel Walker (born abt.1767 and died 1/12/1832) I have photos and transcriptions of their graves if you are interested.
I am reseacrhing the Walkers as my husband is descended from Ely Walker who I think may be the brother of this Samuel(1767-1832).

Are you descended from these Walkers?
