In William Beard's Will  in 1730 his house in Brighton is  left to his son Nicholas after the death of his wife .
William wife Frances died in  1738 and I guess Nicholas then lived in their old house in Brighton ?.

A Nicholas Beard  is recorded  as being at the marriage of  William daughters ; Frances  in 1711,Sarah  in 1721 and Elizabeth in 1737  all in the  Sussex area .There does not appear to a  Nicholas  Beard recorded at the marriage of Williams other daughter  Susannah Beard in London in 1701. However Nathaniel Beard  was there .

Hope any of this helps ?

Hi Mike ,
Last week I visited the keep too .I  was on a family holiday and decided that on this trip I could only concentrate on one specific family  and looked at the Ayres family  .I  have spent several days in the keep over the past five years !
I have also had a a few visits to the Quaker Library near to Euston and I will have a close look through my notes later today .
Do you know the occupation of " your " Nicholas ?
Regards Yvonne

Have you seen a copy of Nathaniel Beard's  Will ?

I have just got back from holiday and will have a look asp .

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Tranmore 1744
« on: Friday 08 January 16 10:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have some family wills dated around 1744 .They both give the residence place  " of Tranmore Cheshire ", one was Mariner and the other a Brewer .
They owned  properties in Parkgate .
Do you think I am correct in thinking that" Tranmore " is modern day Tranmere ?
Thanks for your help .

Hi ,
Yes , William and Frances had 11 children in total .
Nicholas is named in his Uncle Nathaniel will in 1740  along with the other of Williams surviving children
He is living in Smithfield in London .I have not  seen his name in any Quaker records and he may have married out of faith or just left  ??
Will let you know if I find any further details .I am visiting the Keep at  Brighton in a few weeks to have a look at some of the Wills they have their .
My line is  via  William and Frances nee Suter ---son Thomas and Ann  nee Gibson ----- their daughter Mary (1754 )  who married John Gillam .My maiden name was Gillam .
best wishes  Yvonne

Let me know if you need anything more .

I am continuing to look at the Suter family so may confirm more soon ?

My line is via Thomas Nevell and Frances nee Beard.

They moved to Tranmere /Parkside  on the Wirral in Cheshire  and had a successful business including a ship and a brewing business .

They traded to London and that is where Thomas suddenly died in 1743 .

Do you need information about William Beards parents ?

Regard Yvonne

Hi,
The couples in this conversation our my direct line ancestors .

After years of searching I have recently discovered that Frances Suter who married William Beard in 1681 was the daughter of William and Frances Suter ( she was buried in the Beard family burial ground in Rottingdean in 1705 )

Her sister was Elizabeth Suter (a witness at  Frances  wedding ) who married Jacob Stampe in 1684 in London .Elizabeth wedding record sates her father has  William Suter , of Chichester, upholster and deceased by 1684  .Her sister the then  Francis Beard is a named Witness to the service .

There appears to be a strong link between the Sussex and London Suter families .

Jacob Stampe  was a Hatband maker in London and is associated William Beards brother Nathaniel  Beard  1669 -1740 who was also a London Master Hatband Maker .

I think that they were involved in  making  the distinctive Quaker hats .All were Quakers .

Hope this helps
