Thanks for that! Were there any parts of it that were right at all?

Have attached a history of the Cassells surname which fits in with the Scottish origins

I had thought his father was the Hans m Mary Bell 1835 Lisburn but his address was Glen Conway which seems to be in **Glenavy** and he migrated to Canada before 1851. I have various records of this Hans' life in Canada.

The 1858 marriage record for Robert Campbell places him in Begny townland, Dromara C.P.  The 1868 marriage record for John Campbell places him in Dromara (the neighbouring townland to Begny?).  Griffiths Valuation with a local print date of 1863 shows a Hans Campbell living in a house in Dromara townland. So presumably this must be a possibility for Hans' death in 1874:

Thanks, yes it would make sense that Robert's father would be from Dromara and not Glenavy ..... I think I latched onto the latter as I hadn't found out about any alternative at the time. So likely the John m Jane Kerr 1868 and my Robert were brothers.

I have an ancestor Hans Campbell whose son Robert b abt 1836 m Eliza Jane Nelson 1858 Lisburn Registry office. When married his address was Begny, both he and father labourers. Witnesses were Robert Campbell and Sarah Ervine.

Any clues on sorting this out would be great.

Hi All
Am seeking any Campbells-  families /descendants of a Hans and James Campbell  who were farming
in this area around 1796( Flax Growers List )as well as in Leganny .I believe they may  have been brothers-James born c.1770( James my g.g.g.grandfather) and Hans a little earlier.

The Memorial Deed from Dublin dated 30 April 1798  has I believe, this Hans passing on parts of his lease held in Lisnagannell and Leganny  to sons Alexander and Hans jnr and a son Hugh -should he demand it  when he returns from the Army -I wonder if he returned?

Leganny was held by Thomas Morris Jones of Moneyglass
in the county of Antrim
Lisnaganell  was held under Captain Mucullagh of Claddy in Co Armagh

In the will of John Todd of Ringclare in Donnockmore 1727

Todd had been a rent receiver to William Morris Jones and his lease of Ranbs ? in Co Armagh and Co Down was jointly
With Hans Campbell of Lisnagannell  ( for lives forever ) from Roth Jones.

My James left for IOM  in the 1830s.He and wife Sarah Donaldson ,  had sons Alexander ,Thomas  William( 1816 ) and a daughter Ann in Ireland .Son William came to Australia in 1838  and now the descendants are scattered around Australia

Are there any descendants out there who may have migrated to other lands or stayed in N Ireland

Do I try and research the Estate Rolls and where ? to try and find out more about these families in Ireland
ANY Help appreciated

Thankyou  so much

Was a brother Thomas mentioned before? Thought there was only John? If he was 61 when he died he would have been born 1627 so a bit after the previous year given as 1603.

You can search Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae by minister's name without knowing the parish at https://www.ecclegen.com/general-index-introduction/

However no Gilbert Kennedy b 1603 is listed.

The screenshot is the information from Wikitree. Not sure I'd regard any of the sources cited as 100% reliable. It should be possible to verify the information about his attendance at the University of Glasgow.

https://www.ecclegen.com/general-index-introduction/  is only for ministers from 1843 - 1900?

He would have been only 14 when he graduated from university in 1817 if b 1603!

Also match with someone whose ancestor is James Orr Kennedy b abt 1863 Co Down, father John Orr Kennedy, m Elizabeth Frame 1893 Comber Co. Down. They have common matches with myself and other Cassells matches

Orrs, Kennedys and Frames in the Comber area are mentioned in the Orr MSS in the Linen Hall Library in Belfast, also available as a privately-printed book, Ray A. Jones "Ulster Pedigrees: Descendants, in Many Lines, of James Orr and Janet McClement who emigrated from Scotland to Northern Ireland ca 1607". Have you seen it? It doesn't go up as far as the 1890s, but in the mid-1700s there is a marriage between James Kennedy of Comber and Janet Orr, daughter of William Orr of Ballygowan and his wife Jane Walker. There were Frames around the same area.
Harry
Hadn't heard of that. Could be a good lead thanks.
