Looking for any information regarding Isabella Wilson and family.
According to Bishops Transcript's their first son was John Rutherford born 7th January baptised March 19th 1 son of Andrew Rutherford of Coldstream cabinet maker, native of Swalwell Co Durham by his wife Isabella late Wilson native of Kelso.
John can be found on the 1841 census living with his father Andrew in Gateshead, Co Durham.
Father Andrew died in 1842 Gateshead.
Durham BT's show another son and daughter.

Hi Bob

Would your John Armstrong have any connection to William Carrick and Catherine Armstrong? They had a daughter Catherine christened 1772 at Bewcastle.

I suggest there is a Butterburn farm in Gilsland Northumberland, also Hindley Steel Farm appears to be in Northumberland.

Perhaps you could try putting a message on  Northumberland county (if you haven't already done so).

I'm looking for any snippet of information regarding Andrew Rutherford, Isabella Wilson and John Rutherford but  particularly  the marriage of Andrew Rutherford and Isabella Wilson.

Details of the baptism of their son John Rutherford are:
Cornhill born 7th January 1809 baptised March 19th 1 son of Andrew Rutherford of Coldstream cabinet maker, native of Swalwell by his wife Isabella late Wilson native of Kelso.

1841 Andrew and son John are living in Gateshead Co Durham and Andrew died the following year.

Thank you for any help.

Hi Hume

Your link to Lennel was so interesting - thank you.

I have searched for many years to find the death of Revd. John Rutherford and since his offspring (the children that I know of ) lived and died in Swalwell,  County Durham it came as quite a surprise to find that he died in Coldstream. Knowing that he was buried there is another little piece of 'proof'.

Historically the 'borders'  is the area that many Rutherford's originated and I know that there is a long line of Revd. John Rutherford's.

Berwickshire / Rutherford death at Coldstream

Hi All

Can anyone help me find more information regarding the Rev John Rutherford.
He was living in Swalwell, County Durham and during the years 1778 to at least 1790 his church was Ebeneezer or Ryton Woodside-Presbyterian, Swalwell.

I know that he was married to Mary and I found his death included in the 1807 Monthly Magazine  and British Register , Volume 23 which includes facts relative to eminent or remarkable characters recently deceased.

'Died: At Coldstream, the Rev John Rutherford, formerly a protestant dissenting minister at Swalwell, 59'

I'm assuming that he died in 1807 age 59

Any ideas or suggestions will be most welcome.
