If he was only born in 1901 - his marriage would be in the 1920's so have you checked freebmd for a marriage?

He did marry in 1930 to a Lillian Thompson, but they divorced, and I only found out about this marriage when I got the will. I have his BMD certificates and they all match, but I need to find this new marriage certificate.
I did a search for the boys via Freebmd, but had no joy.

Durham / Desperately Seeking Mary Jane
« on: Sunday 16 November 14 21:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I am desperately hoping that someone get help get over a hurdle.

I have just received a last and testament of one of my great grandfathers, and instead of giving me answers, it's just thrown up more questions.

He is/was Thomas Johnson born 1901 Wheatley Hill, Co.Durham and died 1970 in Hartlepool.

Hi will says that he was married to Mary Jane Johnson and had two sons, James Richard Johnson and Kenneth William Johnson. It also names his brother Robert Johnson and his  grandson, Martin Andrew Johnson, son of James.

What would really like to know is what was the maiden name of Mary Jane. I would like to get their marriage certificate.

Any help would be appreciated.

« on: Sunday 02 November 14 21:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone is able to help me find out if there is a newspaper article of the inquest held for the death of Irene T Tollitt who drowned 11th April 1981 in the River Dart at Steamer Quay, Totnes, Newton Abbot, Devon.

Unfortunately I am unable able to travel to a library local to there because it would a 400 mile round trip for me, so any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Paul

Cumberland / Re: William Johnston of Ireby

Hi warncoort,

George had left home and moved out of the county when he got married after the census in June 1851. His marriage certificate does not state if his father was deceased, but I very  much doubt it as his father appears in the 1851 census which was in April.

Cumberland / William Johnston of Ireby

Hi,

Can anyone help me to locate the death of William Johnston born circa 1778 in Wigton, Cumberland. He married Mary Dalton in Bromfield, Wigton in 1795 and was living in Ireby between 1795 and 1806 where his children were born. His son George's marriage certificate states that his father was a Shoemaker.
I have found him and Mary in the 1851 census still living in Ireby which states his occupation as 'Pauper late Shoemaker.' Unfortunately I have not been able to find a death for him even though Ireby only had a population of around 500 people. There are many deaths for William Johnstons' in Wigton, but that is a common name, so that is not surprising.

Many thanks,

Paul
