Hi Ticker

Thanks for your reply - mainly just interested in anyone researching HARKER in Yorkshire - or anywhere else for that matter.

My own tree is fairly settled from 1765 onwards - just occasionally adding an odd twig or fifth cousin twice removed
 ;)

Anything before that date is speculative anyway.

Hi Pat

Try looking for Patrick being a bit older - He appears to be on the 1891 Census in Wavertree but is given as being 52. His daughter Margaret is with him aged 21 - So looks like a match.

Census Ref:

Source information:    RG12/3003
Registration district:    West Derby
Sub registration district:    Wavertree
ED, institution, or vessel:    6
Folio:    46
Page:    24

They are boarding at 12 Hills Place, Wavertree (Holy Trinity).

Head of household is Thomas Kearns, Carter and his wife is Mary. A. Kearns aged 27 - Could this possibly be Patrick's daughter - right age and also born Wavertree? There is also a son Patrick Kearns !!!!

Patrick is a widower and his occupation is bricklayer's labourer.

Usual spelling is Heapey - on modern maps you'll find it on the north east side of Chorley less than a mile south of Wheelton.

It's only a hamlet but probably included a larger area of farms.

Interested in hearing from anyone researching the above surnames - Anywhere.

My Harkers were from Grassington in Wharfedale but originally (pre-1765) from Swaledale.

Initially Swaledale and Wharfedale in Yorkshire but also throughout the UK and overseas.

Hi Sarah

I stumbled on the rootschat page by accident today and noticed your interest in the Harkers of Grassington.

I'm the Tony Owen that one of the other listers found on the Web and I have many details of the family which you believe you are descended from.

The James Harker (1828) you mention was first cousin to my Great Grandfather Bailey John Harker (b. 1843).

I'm looking forward to receiving your details and hopefully proving that we are related.

Check out my family history web page
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/o/w/e/Anthony-Owen/index.html

You will find my home email address there. The details on the Site are not necessarily up to date so I can send you a full listing when you reply.

Best Wishes
