Hi,
I am a descendant of Robert Watson and Janet Tannahill. My dad told me that two Watson brothers went to New Zealand. I am descended from a brother who stayed in Scotland.
Kind regards,
Jane Wilks ( nee Watson)
Hi there, you will be a very distant relative/cousin of myself as Janet was my first cousin five times removed!

Does the £3 only pay for a transcription? Have you checked with the original holder of the record for the cost of copies of the actual document(s)?

If there is no link to the RCE, Scotland's People should be contacted via the "report an issue" button so that the person who has downloaded the image can see exactly what the change is.

I take it there is definitely no stamp/annotation showing an RCE on the birth certificate in 1916? A Decree of Paternity or the change of name should have had an RCE and may give more clues

Scotland / Re: Adopted Children's Names Disclosed on Scotland's People
« on: Monday 21 August 23 07:16 BST (UK)  »
It has always been possible to see the original birth entry/certificate of an adoptee at any Scotland's People centre (not online at home given births only viewable over 100 years and formal adoption only started in 1930). The adopted entry showed on the index as NRH but not viewable at the SP Centre. I only know this as I have two family members who were adopted and marked as such on their original birth entry as per any other RCE entry and, as I know their adopted name, I could see the adopted entry shown as at NRH.

The parents of James Cain were George Cain/Cane and Jeanie/Jane Telfer.

Unfortunately, I don't have a date of death or place for James

Living in the wider area, I would say there is no doubt as the farm was the first thing I thought of seeing your post title and before reading your post

The child although born in 1919, they could not be formally adopted until 1930 or later.
