It would be good if people mentioned they were modifying /updating an earlier post. Otherwise mine which appears later, but was posted before the earlier one was modified becomes totally irrelevant

Catherine Elmer daughter age 5                                  born London, Middlesex

Elizabeth Elmer might be a daughter of Arthur Elmer and Jane nee Hunt. Arthur from Norfolk married Jane Hunt in Birmingham in 1828. Some children b Birmingham some in King's Lynn. Family in West Brom in 1841, back in King's Lynn in 1851 without Elizabeth or Jane, although Arthur says he's married not widowed.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. It was not the answer I was looking for. As Bicester is close to Quainton, I had hoped to join the families together. Ah well, back to the drawing board. I have another to chase at Hethe, who may be the parents of my Henry. Once again, thank you so much.

I think the Henry baptised in Hethe s/o Henry and Mary, married Mary Spacey in 1763.
The record on Ancestry shows banns reading in October at Hethe, but the marriage written below is another couple. The bride was from a parish I can't read (Fr...ford ??). So I suspect the marriage took place in bride's parish. There are another set of baptisms with parents Henry and Mary in Hethe following the marriage

Several Chipping Norton baptisms, earliest 1736 which fits with Bicester marriage, maybe Henry was from Chipping Norton and only resided in Bicester temporarily. There's  a Deddington baptism in 1710, which might fit with date of marriage. But not related (or not closely at least) to the Quainto Henry.

I see Henry of Quainton married in 17532, so likely to have been born in early 1730s, or even earlier than that..

I see you modified your previous mail after I had posted, date amended

There is an Edward Knibbs s/o Henry and Mary baptised at Chipping Norton on 27 aug 1739.
And Henery bapt same place on 24 Jul 1746
A bit of a way from Bicester and Quainton though.

Whilst on Ancestry I came across a marriage reference to; Jas. Norman to Hatley Eltham 23-9-1789 in Hampshire (no parish listed). FHL Film No. 1278952

I do have some CDs from the Hants FHS but so far the above marriage place has eluded me.

I realise the above info you may already have seen but thought I would just recap.

Alan

The date is the same as the bond for the first "marriage" which I don't believe ever took place. I have found a James Norman bapt in Westbury on Trym s/o John and Hannah.
I have only seen a transcription of that bond, but it seems the intended marriage place was Westbury on Trym (groom's place of residence) rather than Hetty's. They're about 45 miles apart. As to the Hampshire reference, there is also a Hannington in Hampshire. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen Family Search  get the wrong county for villages which have duplicates in one or more counties.

There is a probate for a Hester Aston in 1852 in Buscott and a likely Hester on 1841 census. I haven't found her in 1851 or a death yet. She may have died before 1851 and probate delayed a bit.
There are two Eltham girls b Christian Malford after James Eltham's marriage to Mary Crew (according to census records) but not able to find baptism records
