Thank you for your interest bevj.

John's children's names Thomas (Dec 1777), John (1781-1853), Marey (1783-1783), Ann (1786), Sarah (1790-1848), William (1793-1871), Martin (1795-1795), Samuel (1797-1797), Elizabeth (1801-1801).

I haven't any information re a former marriage for John, food for thought.

I've so far only accessed the transcription of St Michael's parish register made available on the Great Gidding Data CD 1 published by Patrick Ellis. The earliest mention on the CD of the Everet/t name in any form is the marriage of John Everet to Susanna Martin on 25.04.1777.

I should have thought of it before, but I'm planning to do some research at my local Latter Day Saints Family History library, where hopefully I'll be able to view images of the Parish Register.

I live in Western Australia.

Hello, I'm looking for a bit of help please with a brick wall re parents of my 4x great grandfather. I have John Everett born about 1744. He married Susanna Martin 25 Apr 1777 Great Gidding, Huntingdonshire, England. Transcription of monumental inscription ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH GREAT GIDDING reads: In memory of John Everitt (or Everett), who departed this life April 7th 1811, aged 67 years.

I think he wasn't born in Great Gidding but don't have any other clues. I have found a couple of possible baptism records:
(1)   John Everit son of William and Alice, 15 Jan 1743, Cottenham Cambridgeshire.
(2)   John Everett son of Abraham and Mary, 9 July 1744, Waterbeach Cambridgeshire.

I'm wondering if I'm on the right track or if there is information available to further inform my quest for the family's origins?

Hi Michelle,
Some links that may be useful.
Have you seen this page? It is about Wepre Hall and an Edward Jones and his son Major Trevor Owen Jones are mentioned. The page title is The History of Shotton - Deeside: 7 The Wepre Hall Estate, link http://www.angelfire.com/fl/shotton/history7.html

Also, this on Wepre Park has good section about Edward Jones home www.flintshireleisuretour.co.uk/pdfs/Wepre_Park_Booklet.pdf

Google books has A genealogical and heraldic history of the commoners of Great Britain...by John Burke Esq. p517 daughter of Edward Jones- link http://books.google.com.au/books?id=yshsAAAAMAAJ&lpg=PA517&ots=rdSvLuuuU3&dq=edward%20jones%20wepre%20hall&pg=PA517#v=onepage&q=edward%20jones%20wepre%20hall&f=false

On Google books, The history of the parishes of Whiteford and Holywell
published 1796 By Thomas Pennant at http://books.google.com.au/books?id=Z5suAAAAMAAJ&lpg=PA249&ots=cT0VdAdLus&dq=edward%20jones%20mine%20holywell&pg=PA186#v=onepage&q=&f=false
P186 about Stokyn and P249 onward about mines and Edward Jones. It's written in the old typeface so I found some changing of f's to s's as you read is necessary for it to make sense.

Hi Michelle,
Here's a photo of Stokyn Hall taken in 1955, by my great Aunt. She and my grandparents were holidaying in England and revisiting grandfather's early days. Grandfather grew up at Stokyn Farm from 1902-1906. My Grandparents are in the picture, as are 3 members of the Jones family.

Derry (Londonderry) / Re: LOGUE / LOAG in Drumahoe / Clondermot
« on: Saturday 22 September 07 11:46 BST (UK)  »
Yes  :)
...possible death.. to start with:
Londonderry Sentinel, 22 Aug.1856: At Drumahoe, on the 18th inst., Mr. John Logue, jun., aged 39 years.
Londonderry Sentinel, 5 May 1863?- May 3, at Drumahoe, Mr. William Logue, aged 86 years.
...
Thank you very much, I think this one could very well be the William LOGUE born Abt 1776 Drumahoe, Derry, son of Joseph LOGUE.
Do you know occupations or business that Logues were involved in as there might be others not listed with Drumahoe?

Yes, I can tell you that Joseph Keys LOGUE b 1798 was a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin and was a schoolmaster in both Strabane and Drumahoe - I have a record which says he also taught school in Londonderry during the winter, when he would visit his students. Joseph emigrated to Western Australia in 1837, taking his wife and family with him.
Also, the 1796 Flaxgrowers List has Major LOGUE Glendermot Parish, Londonderry County, 3 wheels and John LOGUE Glendermot Parish, Londonderry County, 3 wheels, so that gives an indication of what they were doing. These would have been I think the Major LOGUE b abt 1774 and John LOGUE b abt 1772.

Not sure about the rest of the family's occupations though,
Hazel

Hello Paul,

I am much obliged for that information. I have also been emailing separately offboard with the great granddaughter of the Mr and Mrs Jones that I mentioned in my earlier posts. A member of the Jones family still has Stockyn Hall.  Her father remembers being told of a Miss Everett (different spelling same family I think) who was a housekeeper for a Mr Jones (no relation) of Kinsale Hall Mostyn (1mile away from Stockyn Hall) Her father was told this many years ago by John Williams who was the bailiff in Kinsale for her fathers Grandfather.

So your information and her information look like they tally, which is really great.

Thank you for the tips. Yes, I agree that a search of GRO Birth Index will be next big task for finding Mabel and John D Williams children.

Hope to hear from also from someone who knows about whether the Everitt family were tenants at Stokyn (Stockyn) Farm as I presume they were as it seems unlikely they owned it? And where they lived in or near Mold?
