Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Ancestry DNA membership features active
« on: Sunday 04 February 24 23:40 GMT (UK)  »
I am being totally ripped  off then as I pay 179 pounds for an annual sub ( worldwide membership). It's  got too expensive.
They never give discounts  to long time sub holders.

I've  been with them for years and years, and will be cancelling my sub before the next renewal . They've  got worse  over the years, money  grab. Yes they're  a business,  but their business practices in recent  years I  think are totally unscrupulous. .

You need to cancel your auto-renew and once your subscription ends you could then try using one of the 'offer' links below that others have also had the benefit of.

Annual Worldwide for £89.99

Annual UK Premium for £59.99

Good to hear others have also renewed with the 40% discount offer.  I have never auto-renewed my subscription, always cancelling the option, and find by waiting over the usual 30 days then a better deal is offered to me... I've never paid their full advertised prices since my original subscription a good few years ago, which back then was a half-price offer!  This subscription discount matches others I've had in previous years.  It works well for me as I can find plenty to keep me busy until that better offer comes along.  I may have received their recent offer, via e-mail, as I had not logged into FindMyPast for a while since my sub expired on 27th November.

My subscription expired late November after I cancelled auto-renew.  I have just renewed my 12 months Premium subscription with a 40% discount after receiving an e-mail with that offer.  It stated the offer was available until 31st January so might be worth a call to anyone wanting to renew to see if they can also get the same discounted price.

If you cancel now your membership will still run through until its expiry date at the end of December.

I’ve just cancelled my membership that runs out in Feb 2024…

I’ve received an email to say that cancellation is confirmed.. I can carryon using it until the sub runs out..

When I use the link to create a new sub it’s only showing the 6 mth ones not annual… am I doing something wrong..

If I’ve cancelled it why’s it still allowing me to use it until Feb… no offer of refund pro rata…

Any advice/ help would be much appreciated.. thanks in advance.

Try logging out of Ancestry first before using either of the above links.  Once logged out, click on the link, which hopefully will show the discounted amount at the top of the page.  Sign in from that page and it should take you directly to the payment page, showing the amount you need to pay.  I've just tried it whilst signed out and it is still showing the discounted price.  Hope it works for you!

The Common Room / Re: Death records in 2022

My mother died last year and her date of death and full date of birth are both showing on Ancestry.  However, my brother who died in 2019 is not showing at all on there.

Technical Help / Re: Ancestry check out cart
« on: Wednesday 26 July 23 23:09 BST (UK)  »
I had the same thing a few weeks ago while my worldwide subscription was still ongoing.  However, I believe this was my fault as I had clicked on the half-price link for Ancestry that was shared here on RootsChat to see if it was still working.  I only became aware after receiving the same email asking "if I had forgotten something?"

I ignored it until my subscription ran out recently and then used the offer link to renew once again.
