Canada Lookup Request / William Thomas Potter
« on: Friday 30 April 21 22:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello I am still looking for my uncle who would have passed away by now or any of his children. His name is William Thomas Potter, born 1908 Farm Rd. Pontlottyn. S.Wales UK. He emigrated to  date: 15/8/1928 From: Southampton,To: Quebec. He was still alive around 1950's because the Salvation Army got intouch with my grandmother about him. I have asked the Salvation army if they would give me a clue to his address at the time. NO. I have corresponded with the Quebec officials and they cannot find him after he landed. It would mean the world to a couple of us "oldies" left in the family - all four of us.
Many thanks, Avril x

The Common Room / Re: trying to find William Findlison Buchanan

Hello Kay
Thankyou again. I have recently let my Ancestry subs slip by. I will go to our local library who has this and many more sites on line. My grandaughter went to Otago museum last week and saw a replica of John Buchanan's home. That is what started all of this searching again. I had got so far back and got stuck.  Many thanks again. Avril

Hello
Thankyou so much Kay99 and KGArrad for your quick replies. You have shown me that  the name Findlison should be Finlayson.. Now that is a great help

I will now try Scotlands people with  the information that I have. Again many thanks :) :)

Hello quite some time ago I tried to get information on my son-in-laws family, the Buchanan's.
Well I am now hitting a brick wall.
I am trying to find William Findlison who married a lady named Janet (Sorry dont know anymore than that about the lady). They had a son named William Short Buchanan born in 1880, here in Matara New Zealand. Other children were to follow.

I am suspecting that William Findlison Buchanan came from Scotland and landed in Southland New Zealand, where other members of the family were born, including my son in laws father.

I have tried to find him in the census back in UK and on the passenger lists to NZ.
Thank you once again
Avril :) :)

Hello cider Drinker
Thankyou for your help. I will looke at the online family of the Hibbards because I know that family has a link with mine. Though I am not sure about the death. I have found one in the same place but the parents are not the right ones on the certificate. Again many thanks.
Avril :)

I know that he was alive about 1951-1953 and there my trail runs dry. I know that he must hav e passed away by now but it would be lovely to find out about his Canadian family and where he is buried.  Any help on this "brick" wall would be gratefully appreciated.  Cheers Avril  ???
