Nanny Jan, Ludovica and Ruskie,
Thanks a lot. Yes, it was London, and makes perfect sense now!

The Common Room / M.E.O.T. - anyone know what it stands for?

Looking at some marriage records, they have "both of M.E.O.T." after the signatures. Does anyone know what it stands for?
Thanks, Stephanie

Chris,

Terrific, thanks so much. Just about all of mine, and some of these I hadn't come across before, so that's great.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Lewes Marriage look up Please - COMPLETED, many thanks
« on: Friday 20 July 07 23:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Could someone please look for a marriage of James Maginnes to Mary in Lewes between 1816-1823. First know child was born in 1823, but they could have married long before that.
Thanks,
Stephanie

Hi Chris,

I would love to go to Lewes and have a dig for myself, but I live in Bermuda, so it's not too easy.

So, could you please have a look and see what Maginnes baptisms and/or burials there are. I know they lived in St John under Castle.  The ones I know of were there between 1790s and 1880s. Maybe they were there before that?

Many thanks,
Stephanie

Northamptonshire / Re: Who was Hannah

Hi Twid

If you look in the Look up Offers for Northamptonshire, there is a message for Northants Marriage Index Free Lookups. If you follow the links to the website there is a button to send an email to someone who will look up a marriage for you.

I just did it and got an almost instant reply. I did have fairly specific information but its worth a try. I emailed Marilyn (you get a choice of 2 people).

I didn't have any answers from anyone on RootsChat, so I was glad to find this service.

Good luck, Stephanie

I am looking for the marriage of Edward Joseph PITTAM and Elizabeth STARMER.

I was wondering if anyone was able to look it up in the church registers to find out the parents of Edward Pittam. The Free BMD has it as Dec 1856 in Northampton.

Thanks
Stephanie

Thanks to Marilyn at northants-familytree.net for a speedy response.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Re: St Margarets birth look up please?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for looking all that up - I have passed it on to the other person, and am awaiting a reply about the Church for the baptism. It could be a while, going by previous emails, so don't worry about it for now. You have been tremendously helpful already.

Stephanie
