George Friend and Elizabeth had a daughter Sarah Ann Friend in 1874, she would have been Fanny's half sister. Have you researched her?

Looks like Sarah Anne died aged 6 just before 1881 census, so she can't be Mrs Jefferies.

George Friend was a widower when he married Elizabeth. Were their any daughters from first marriage or his later marriage to Alice? The term sister might be used loosely and Mrs Jefferies was actually a step sister

George Friend had been married to Fanny Wells before Elizabeth Farmer

As far as I am aware George and Fanny had 4 boys before Fanny's death

In George Friend and Alice née Stedman are in Forest Row with
George and Fanny's sons
James aged 17,
George 15,
Jesse 11
And
Charlotte Friend, dau, 4, although Charlotte was actually Alice's illegitimate child and registered as Stedman
And finally Alice and George's son
Frederick H aged 1
No sign of Fanny

But Maybe i should research Charlotte as being Mrs Jefferies

There's a Frederick Carlisle (b Orston, Notts) as a lodger in Fletchling in 1891. Harriet Amelia is still in Fletchling in 1891 as a servant. In 1901 Frederick with his wife  Harriet (b Sussex, no parish recorded) are in Deptford with 4 children. Only checked one child so far (Lilian Ida b 1900) but mother's maiden name Farmer. So it is a strong possibility that Harriet Amelia has married Frederick or is living with him as his wife. There is a later child registered Frederick Robert Carlisle (Q1 1902) with mmn Farmer.

Added
Death also reg Q1 1902, Harriet Carlisle age 30 in Greenwich district

That's fantastic thank you

Is Elizabeth Farmer the daughter of John Farmer and his wife Harriet nee Chatfield?

If so
John, Harriet and loads of children in 1851

Piece number 1640, Folio 491, Page 17
Several sisters who could have become Mrs Jefferies

MODIFIED
I've confused  myself here - it was Fanny who had a sister called Mrs Jefferies not her mother Elizabeth

I was looking at Elizabeth's siblings to see if any of them could have been looking after her in 1871. She would only have been two and a few months.

That is the correct family - I have tried to do that mysely but have not found her !

Hi, I haven't posted for a while, I hope you can help me

My 2 x great grandmother was  Fanny Elizabeth Farmer
she was born on 26th December 1869 in Fletching and christened in July of the following year
Her mother was Elizabeth Farmer her father is unknown

I have found Elizabeth on the 1871 census as a servant aged 25 but there is no sign of Fanny
in 1873 Elizabeth married George Friend
in 1876 Elizabeth dies
George Friend goes on to marry Alice Steadman
Fanny is not with George in 1881
Fanny married in Feb 1891 and i can find her on the census after this and right up to her death in 1929

Fanny appears to have had a sister Harriett Amelia Farmer born in 1872 and christened in 1873 - again father unknown
1881 Harriett Amelia is with her uncle Richard Hatfield (her auntie Harriett nee Farmer was not present)
I also found Harriett Amelia in 1891 but after this i cannot find her

There was a funeral notice for Fanny Elizabeth in 1929 which mentions amongst her mourners Mrs Jefferies (Sister) and Tom Jefferies (Nephew)
I have no idea who Mrs Jefferies and Tom Jefferies are.

Hoping you can help.

Hi, I was wondering if you found anything out about Edwin Charles Pascoe Holman - he was my grandfather, cheers, Michael
Hi Michael
Edwin Charles pascoe holman was my great grandfather's nephew.
He was a landscape artist and had many of his paintings exhibited
But I know little about him other than that
I have found him on the 1921 census now. Alone. I was expecting him to be with wife and son.
His wife was also an artist

Hi Beth
welcome to rootschat
Thanks for your information - that is a loose end tied up nicely!
I haven't been around much as Jan says things have changed quite a lot at home since this thread was started but I have been trying to get back in to the family history lately - its just finding the time!
