Essex Lookup Requests / Shelford family of Great Chesterford
« on: Sunday 19 September 21 22:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone.

I have an Edward Shelford baptised 29 Sep 1749 in Great Chesterford, the child of Richard and Ann. I cant seem to find a marriage for Richard and Ann, but there are a lot of trees online showing Richards wife being Ann Walker.

If a marriage cannot be found this early in time, how would they arrive at a conclusion of the surname Walker? Or am I missing something else that can be used to find her surname?

David.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Burial lookup help please
« on: Wednesday 15 September 21 21:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone.

Not sure whats happening at the moment, but when I attempt a search on FindMyPast i'm getting a 500 server error. I've been getting this error message for the last few days.

John Stevenson married Mary Guilford at Hallaton, Leicestershire on 17/01/1758. I think i've found 4 children for them:

William bapt. 19/11/1758
John bapt. 07/09/1760
William bapt. 21/09/1777
Thomas bapt. 17/01/1780.

Not sure why theres such a gap, maybe other children were baptised elsewhere, but this is all i've found!

Potential burial for Mary in 1786 aged 59 (born 1737). A widow and a pauper which would make her husband John died between 1780 and 1786. It may not be the right one, as an online tree has a baptism for a Mary as 14/02/1732 in Hallaton.

Can anyone help with any of this please?

Thank you.
David.

Maybe delete it is the wrong choice of words. Detach from my correct information might be better.

I dont really want to change any info, just remove the person as my ancestors. Someone has listed another 30 or so generations and by the looks of it has made the data fit for their purpose.

Utterly ridiculous garbage including having a child at 85 etc.

Want to keep all the stuff I did and checked by disassociate everything else. Dont want to delete it as it belongs to someone else. Whether right or wrong, they have spent the time to input the data. And as far as im concerned the can do the corrections. Just want the link severed.

Hi everyone.

I've only recently started using the Familysearch tree as I saw a YouTube video showing a possible way to break down a brick wall or two. As seeing my ancestors as part of a world tree, it recommended seeing if they were on there already and the possibility of another researcher maybe having found a piece of evidence I didnt could open things up.

Although anything I see online I take with pinch of salt, I could in theory then research what they've found myself and either accept or most likely discard as rubbish!

Problem is, I started constructing my tree and things were going well. I added a great uncle, and lots of ancestors opened up. After going through them checking all the vitals, it was all correct apart from a slight typing error which could happen to anyone!

I entered another ancestor and yet more ancestors became visible, and to my shock were all correct!

I was very impressed by this as it saved me from adding all this information myself.

I entered another ancestor and found that the match it was giving was correct, but their mother was listed as someone completely wrong.

After accidentally pressing YES I now can't delete the mother as its been done by other people.

I cant find any way to remove this ancestor and its really annoying that my tree is wrong and cant do anything about it.

Anyone else had this issue and what to do about it?

Thank you.
David.
