Essex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Census request - Lambert Family
« on: Sunday 09 September 07 18:27 BST (UK)  »
Leonard was born 1919, and his mother's maiden name was Lambert.

Am going on the assumption she is the Gladys aged 1 in the 1901 census, as found a birth record for Gladys Amy Lambert born 1899, and the middle name of Leonard's birth certificate for his mother is Amy.

What a lot of confusion...!!!

Have run into a small problem!

On the marriage certificate for Leonard and my grandmother, it gives the name of his father as Albert Lambert (deceased). On his birth certificate however there *is* no father's name, only mother's name of Gladys Amy. Could they have put his *grandfather's* name on the marriage cert as they didn't have  his father's info?

Wow, thanks Wozzle and Tati!!!

This is *really* interesting, as I recall a cousin of mine tearing her hair out over the fact that her branch of Lamberts kept changing surname to and from Massett/Mussett for no apparant reason! Looks like we have  a reason now though - Emily Lambert brought the "Lambert" part into the family....

If you're interested, basically the reason behind my interest is that  my paternal grandmother (maiden name Lambert) married a Leonard Lambert, and I could never find anything out about his line. Its looking though like the two lines are connected back in the 1800s with the Mussett/Massetts origin. We thought there must be a connection somewhere, but could never find it - thanks to you now we have!

*keeps watching eagerly to see what else comes up!*

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / Census request - Lambert Family

Hi,

I've finally tracked down the branch of the Lambert family I am research, and was wondering if anyone with access to the 1891, 71, 61 and 51 censuses would be able to help with some lookups?

I currently have an Albert Lambert b. 1870 East Donyland, Essex. He had a brother, Henry Victor, born 1867, and his mother was named Rosamund. She was a widow at the time of the 1881 census though so I don't know the name of the father.

Any help tracing them would be much appreciated!

Thanks, for this and all the other help people on this site have given me these last few months. It's a great place!

Aha, I didn't look closely enough - in the 1901 there's a Gladys Lambert born in East Donyland, Essex, which is in the rural district of Lexden and Winstree. No mention of a middle name, but it matches the dates for the birth you found Kath - she's marked as 1 in the 1901 census. Fingers crossed this might be the one!

Hi Casalguidi,

The only info I have is on her son's birth certificate which is as follows:

Gladys Amy (am certain that's what it says anyway!) Lambert, domestic housekeeper. Residence 28 Artillery Street, South Colchester. The birth took place at that address on 30th March, 1919 and the child was a boy named Leonard. You're right, father's details are blank!

And Kath, I've had a look on the 1901 census and can't find the Gladys Amy born in Lexden - does that mean she was missed off, or that the child died and it isn't the one I'm looking for? *gets self in a tangle*

Hi,

I am trying to find the birth record of a Gladys Lambert who had a son called Leonard in 1919, born Colchester. Her middle name begins with A, possibly Amy, is a little hard to read the info on the certificate I have for the birth of her son.

I have found info on the 1901 census for a Gladys born in 1896 in Colchester, but am not 100% certain this is the right family.

Any help much appreciated!

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Lookup help - Howells Family
« on: Sunday 19 August 07 16:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I've run into a bit of a brick wall and hoping someone can help me out...

I have the birth record of a Nicholas Glyndwr HOWELLS, born 19th September 1913  in Pontypridd, to a William James HOWELLS and Gwyneth May HOWELLS, formerly LLEWELLYN.

I have been unable to find anything out about the parents or anything further about Nicholas, other than a possible marriage record in 1935 to Edith Isobel Lambert. However, the record has his father as William Thomas HOWELLS (deceased.) The names Nicholas Glyndwr is the same, as well as the birth year - might there have been two Nicholas G Howells' born in the same year (1913) or is it possible that his father's middle name was entered incorrectly?

I have been unable to find anything else about this family - any help would be much appreciated.

Anna :)
