Somerset / Re: Pippard, Montacute, Geard, Stagg, Hutchins, rugg and Hawker in Montacute

Here you go, from Charles Pippard down to your man.

Charles Pippard born 1819 Montacute married Laura Baker, born 1822 Bristol. They wed in Longport (reg District) June 1841.

Amongst the children they had one Robert Pippard born 1853 in Somerton, he moved to Bristol where he met and married Susan Brooks in June 1874. Susan was born in 1855 Bridgewater.

They had several kids including your man Samuel Burt Pippard born 1882 in Barton Regis.

Should help I hope. I have not made a connection to the old chap Charles born Montacute, although I am sure all the Pippards would be connected in some way in that village/town. I have George Pippard born there in 1813, father James, mother Priscilla.

All of the above are in my research notes and are only my conjecture, IGI and census resources.

Hi Freda your Thomas is not  a connection of mine. Going backwards this mans family can be seen in the 1901 to the 1861 census (except 1871).

1901 living in Somerton born 1849, wife Louisa, son Samuel and daughter Alice. Thomas is a retired postman

In 1891 living in Somerton, wife Louisa, daughter Alice, son Charles. Thomas is a Rural Postman

You probably know them in 1881.

In 1861 unmarried Thomas is at home with his parents in Somerton this household has Charles born 1819, Montacute, employed as a carrier, wife Laura born 1821 Bristol, daughter Caroline born 1856, daughter Elizabeth born 1860, daughter Mary born 1859, daughter Prudence born 1847, son Robert born 1852, son Samuel born 1843 and Thomas born 1849. On this census Thomas is said to have been born in Somerton

The nearest I have is Charles born 1807

Good luck

Rose.
Have just had a look at my records again. There is a George PIPPARD christened 4 Feb 1816 in Norton Sub Hamdon. This is only one and a half miles from Montacute. His parents James and Priscilla.

Emma in 1861 is a widow living with her children and her sister Lydia. In Montacute. On the free BDM site there is three George PIPPARDS listed as having died between 1851 (where he is a plasterer and tiler) until 1861when his wife is now a widow.

Good luck

Rose, I have had a good look at my data on the PIPPARD/PEPPARD's from Somerset and have been unable to find George born about 1812.
Mystery that one.
If I find a connection I will let you know.
In my tree I have
William PIPPARD born 1757 married Elizabeth (Betty) TAYLOR in 1782
Children
Charles 1783
George 1792 (right age to be your Georges dad)
James 1791
John 1785
Paul 1788

Good hunting. David in Perth.

Ferret1, Thanks for your prompt reply I think the CRAMPTON's going back to the 1600's would be great to see, I only go back a couple of generations. However I have John CRAMPTON's line through Sidney down to myself. If you are interested.

Cheers from David in West Oz where the weather is hot and the beer is cold, very cold

In my research I have John CRAMPTONS mother as Ann CRAMPTON. She went on to marry John ULYET. Can share the info if required.
