I have finally found what eventually happened to John, although still no idea as to where he was in 1861/1871, possibly at sea at the time of the 1871 census and thus not recorded?
In 1872 he married in Bristol, when he was described as a widower. At some point between then and 1876, he emigrated to Australia, where he had two daughters and continued to practise as a Doctor, until his death in 1902.
Thank you again for all your efforts to assist me.

Hi Cathy
Thank you for your reply. Had a look at the site and pretty sure that is 'our' Eva.
At least it virtually confirms the family story of where she went.

South Africa / Eva Violet 'Popiel'

I'm trying to find any details of what happened to Eva, born in 1916 and who I believe died in South Africa at some point after 1949, which was the year she married, in Wales.
Her name appears in various versions, for example the marriage record is as 'Papill'!
I'd be grateful for any pointers to possible, relevant, South African records.
Her husband died in North Wales in 1999.
Thank you.

Hi Craclyn. I've checked the original index list and the consecutive entries are indeed there. Thanks for the thought though.

The Common Room / Double death index entry!

I have come across an instance where the GRO Death Index has two entries at the same time in 1975.... with the same index references....the same exact dates of birth....and the same first names and surnames. The only difference being different middle names. As I know that they were not conjoined twins, can anybody please tell me how this could come about?

Hi Kellygr7. Thanks for the response but, unfortunately, this isn't a picture of 'our' Albert.

Thank you all very much or your very quick responses. Unfortunately, in checking the details to let know, I find the location is wrong...doh! So sorry to have wasted your time. :-[
