Can anybody tell me if the version of 1983 has additional information of the Halyburtons from Egliscarnie, Bolton, near Haddington, than in the 1973 edition.
Also does anybody know where this ended up?
the large carton on a dust covered shelf in a basement. In it were hundreds of parchment documents dating from 1567 to the late 1800s. Mrs. King said she got "goose pimples all over" as she read decree after decree: "By the grace of God and Charles II," "By the grace of God and George III," and others. Each was signed and sealed in wax with the Great Seal of Scotland. In one envelope folded like a road map was a 10 foot long legal document dated 15 July, 1544,, in Edinburgh, Scotland, describing the castles, lands and holdings of the Haliburton and Maitland families. The carton contained an amazing genealogy and complete family record, including scores of letters, covering a 300 year span of the two families.
